(Continuing to trace such references back through the material, I’d like to direct the reader to several passages from the 683rd session for Volume 1 of “Unknown” Reality; in them Seth contends with variations on the counterpart theme as they’re developed in certain other probable realities:)

[...] Anything apparent to whatever degree in your system is developed in another.

[...] In retrospect that material seems to be a clear indication of the later development of the counterpart concept — and one passage could well refer to “Unknown” Reality long before that project was ever thought of as far as Jane and I were concerned. [...]

[...] During the first three sessions the material came from a Frank Withers — who, it developed in the 4th session, was one of the “personality fragments” making up the Seth entity, or whole self. [...]

[...] Karma is merely in the physical plane, the result of personal development, and represents the maturing realization that we are all psychically and physically part of All There Is, and that when we wound, it is not another that we wound but ourselves.

You are to develop your own abilities, and he will help you develop them now. [...]

[...] The woman being created from his rib symbolized the necessary emergence, even from the new creature, of the intuitive forces that will always come forth — for without that development the race would not have attained self-consciousness in your terms.

As the mind developed, the species could hand down to its offspring the wisdom and law of the elders. [...]

(Pause at 8:48.) Then a lack of communication developed, so that various portions of the personality “hardened” their own positions, sometimes holding quite different sets of beliefs. [...]

(9:10.) A concentration upon painting, or developments about the home, with as many diversions as possible will also help, again, so that the entire personality can activate the entire system for healing processes. [...]

[...] This would seem to imply that others had come along, or been developed by us, to take their place—at least something had been created to take their place. [...]

(Pause.) Ruburt has felt too responsible to develop his psychic abilities, to produce another “psychically inspired” work of his own. [...]

In other words, the psychic development is a part of his natural growth (long pause), a reaffirmation and restructuring of inner information that in one fashion or another was always available to him, but needed to find a conscious format, a conscious expression, a way to pierce the seemingly opaque habits of knowledge of the cultural world. (Long pause.) I am trying to connect present and past here in a very important manner, so that Ruburt can understand his own psychic roots, for they are indeed the basic ones, and that understanding is as important to his development now as any other material that I might give. [...]

[...] Without the experience his abilities would not fully develop. [...]

[...] There is too much for any consciousness to digest except those so highly developed that even I know little of them.

[...] A new product being developed by the company that affects the nervous system, a strong U, long U sound connected with it. [...]

(I said I was willing to face whatever developed because of this action—that if I had to get a job on part-time basis, okay. [...]

Our sessions still will follow many developments, and in some later years when you have also learned more, there will be channels opened of direct experience within the session framework. [...]

[...] In the sort of work you are doing, both creatively in your arts and in your psychic work, the inner activities and developments run below surface and are unseen. [...]

[...] On the other hand, within these other systems there is a strong innovative group consciousness developing, in which identity is retained but greater inner play allowed between individuals, a large creative interchange of symbol-pools, a drawing upon mental and psychic symbols with greater facility. The innovative patterns developed in those systems, however, can be to some extent perceived within your own. [...]

Your future thoughts and acts are as real in these dimensions as if they had already occurred, and as much a part of your development. [...]

[...] Dreaming then provides the species with learning experience not otherwise available, in which behavior and events can be judged against more developed and higher understanding than that present in conventional daily reality at any level.
