[...] Seth had talked about her blueness and crying last night. When Jane got to the end of the session, and read my own notes about my own crying spells, she began to cry while reading aloud—but she kept going, and finished in good style. [...]

I guess I really want to cry. [...]

[...] As I turned on a couple of additional lights in the living room, to see to write by, our friends in the fireplace began to sound off —adding a new sort of whistling or crying sound—and Jane made what may be a good point: light may leak past the closed damper enough that the raccoons respond to that stimulus. (Jane began crying after I called her this noon, as she felt the waves of panic sweep through her, and she continued to cry for some little while. [...]

(Jane felt recurrences of the panicky feelings to a lesser degree through the day, and occasionally she cried or whimpered a bit. [...]

(Now Jane confessed that she had a short “crying jag” this morning while watching a TV game show. [...]

The daily sessions, regardless of their brevity, help to keep his spirits higher, and are a protection against the kind of small crying bout he had this morning. [...]

(Jane said later that this worked well, and evidently helped her across several rough spots—the feeling or urge to cry passed after a few moments. [...]

[...] Her trance, Jane said, was quite different than the usual Seth trance, and a few times, particularly during the crying attempt, Jane felt she might be approaching an unpleasant experience, as has happened a few times in the past. [...]
