[...] You want to know how reality is created—how and why people create lives that seem to be less than desirable.

[...] “If you don’t like the reality you’ve created, change your focus. [...]

[...] He is creating a reality that is in its way highly unique—a creation he feels at least is his own. [...]

[...] Instead we worked on the table of contents for Volume 2 of “Unknown” Reality.

(The search, then, is on for new unities and meanings; a convergence, one might say, of the realities of science, nature, religion — and, of course, mysticism. By mysticism I mean simply the intuitional penetration of our camouflage reality to achieve deeper understandings relative to our physical and mental environments — and such comprehensions are what Jane seeks to accomplish through her expression of the Seth material.²⁵ In that sense, it isn’t necessary here to discuss attaining “ultimate” knowledge — it will be enough to note that as one person Jane can use her abilities to help unify a number of viewpoints. She can also bring to consciousness the idea that no matter what our individual orientations may be, collectively we do have overall purposes in the world we’ve created. This realization alone can be a transforming one; as I show in the Introductory Notes for Volume 1 of “Unknown” Reality, it can be a most useful one in practical, everyday life as well. [...]

[...] Some probable realities might be reached — potential conscious achievements that I think are already within the reach of certain gifted individuals, Jane among them.¹⁹ Jane and I would rather say that the variability among humans [or the members of any other species] at the molecular level is a reflection of Seth’s statement that we each create our own reality, with all that that implies.

(It should be clear, then, that in our camouflage reality the ordinary concept of evolution becomes very complex if one chooses to make it so. [...] Once it’s created, each school of thought takes upon itself, and often with great intellectual and emotional arrogance, the right to advance its own belief systems in the world at the expense of its rivals.

[...] I certainly realize that this is hardly a scientific statement — yet the moment that All That Is conceived of a physical system it was invisibly created, endowed with creativity, and bound to emerge [into physical reality].

[...] You create your own reality. [...] I won’t claim that residues of it may not be buried within my psyche (and within Jane’s), but it’s very difficult to stay mad when one agrees with the simple but most basic and profound idea that you do create your own reality.

[...] I believe implicitly now that each one of us does create our own reality. [...] (In Chapter 1 of The Nature of Personal Reality, see the 613th session, for September 11, 1972.) And Jane and I are still exploring, still searching—together—for the factors within those larger frameworks of existence which make qualities like illness possible and understandable.

[...] These sessions still live, and in them he reinforces the idea that each of us does create our own reality. Both can be found in Chapter 1 of Personal Reality.

[...] Learning experiences can show themselves in a vast number of ways, then, and independently of sequential time, too; and if Jane and I don’t like certain aspects of the realities we’ve created, we can try to change them, together and separately.

[...] The dream state continues to be a connective between the two realities, and as a species you literally learned to walk by first being sleepwalkers. [...] You spoke in your dreams and later wrote down the alphabets—and your knowledge and your intellect have always been fired, sharpened, propelled by the great inner reality from which your minds emerged.

(Long pause.) They take certain forms, then, when they operate as particles, and experience their reality from “the center of” those forms. [...]

[...] Metaphysically, they can be thought of as the point at which All That Is acts to form [your] world—the immediate contact of a never-ending creative inspiration, coming into mental focus, the metamorphosis of certainly divine origin that brings the physical world into existence from the greater reality of divine fact. [...]

In the beginning CU’s, then, units of consciousness, existing within a divine psychological gestalt, endowed with the unimaginable creativity of that sublime identity, began themselves to create, to explore, and to fulfill those innate values by which they were characterized. [...]

I will however begin a discussion concerning the personality and its relationship to those dreams which it creates.

[...] The dreams created by the personality can be considered therefore as a part of the changing personality. [...]

As a personality is molded by his exterior circumstances, so is he also molded by the dreams that he creates, and which help to form his interior or psychic environment. [...]

[...] The personality creates its dreams; the dreams are then experienced. [...]

[...] Any “thing” in quotes so created entirely of fears, would be frightened, and particularly angry at its creator, and it could do nothing else but attack; in one way to protect what reality it had, for it knew Ruburt created it only to slay it if possible.

God himself did not create reality easily. [...]

The words: “May peace be with you,” will get him through any difficulty in other layers of reality, for as he formed that image others also form images, and he could encounter them on occasion. To wish them peace will be to give them some comfort, for they do have a kind of reality. To fear them is to put yourself into their realm of reality, and then you are forced to fight on those terms, and there is no need for this.

(Jane wanted information from Seth about her struggle last night with what she believed to be a thought form she had created while sleeping. [...]

The kind of reality thus created by that portion of your consciousness forms a given kind of experience. [...] When you want to travel, you do so within the dimensions of the reality thus created. [...]

[...] You set them into motion, but then they follow their own laws and realities. [...] I [recently] suggested a project to Ruburt’s class — one that will ultimately illuminate many of the points I am making in “Unknown” Reality. I suggested that Ruburt’s students create a “city”⁹ at another level of reality. [...]

(Slowly:) The simple picture of the universe that you see on our screen, therefore, represents a view from your own now perspective — but each star, planet, galaxy or whatever is made up of other reference points in which, to put it simply, the same patterns have different kinds of reality. [...] You use one main focus in your reality. [...] You not only tune in the picture but you also create the props, the entire history of the life and times, hyphen — but in living three-dimensional terms, and “you” are within that picture.

[...] It seems as if you are on the outskirts of your own reality. [...] On the outside this would give you another reality. (Intently:) In it your “old” reality might still be somewhat perceivable as a ghost image,⁶ if you knew what to look for and remembered your former coordinates. On the inside, however, you would be traveling not around or about, but through one portion of the psyche with its reality, into another portion of the psyche with its reality. [...]

(Pause.) There is much material here that I will give you, because it is important that you understand the different ways of relating to reality, and how those ways create the experienced events.

What we will be discussing for several sessions, with your permission jointly — and, I hope, with your joint enthusiasm — will be the magical approach to reality, and to your private lives specifically, in order to create that kind of atmosphere in which the answers become experienced (underlined).

[...] Briefly and very simply, Seth maintains that Framework 2, or inner reality, contains the creative source from which we form all events, and that by the proper focusing of attention we can draw from that vast subjective medium everything we need for a constructive, positive life in Framework 1, or physical reality.”

[...] All of this involves relating to reality in a more natural, and therefore magical, fashion. [...]

[...] I could sympathize with their writers, though, for each one had communicated with us out of a deep need, and is searching for insight into the creation of a personal and mass reality. Often I remind myself that each note I write in connection with the Seth books, or send to a correspondent, represents my attempt as I compose it to grasp a little bit better the interior and exterior realities I am creating for myself. [...]

Regardless of your circumstances, your condition in life, your training or your aptitudes, at your own threshold you stand at the center of all realities—for at your center all existences intersect. [...] Each portion of the universe carries the knowledge of all other parts, and each point of a reality is (underlined) that reality’s center. [...]

(9:30.) I do not, therefore, want you to concentrate your efforts in memorizing methods of perceiving other realities, but to realize that such insights are everywhere within your grasp. [...]

You are remembering it and creating it at once, watching it grow from the attention of your own love and knowledge, and as you seem to stand at its center, so you stand at the center of all of your dreams, which then spin themselves seemingly outward.

Other psychological structures beside your own have their being in realities you will find difficult to comprehend, even though they may be connected with your own, and you unknowingly, may be part of them. What you may term the reality of possibilities is an example. [...] In this system, all the other yous seem to exist in a probable reality.

In two probable realities, your mother, for example, did not have children. [...] A psychological connection exists between the first son in that reality, and yourself.

[...] This altered ego is aware of large portions of inner reality that were previously denied. [...]

[...] Retaining its own consciousness of reality it can now afford to step out of itself momentarily in order to gain further experience.

[...] It is a bread created by each, perceived by each. Your thoughts and feelings created not only this reality, but all reality. [...]

[...] You will not progress individually or as a race until you realize that you form your own physical reality from your thoughts and feelings, and that you can manipulate matter through you mind because your mind creates it. [...]

[...] The structure within the neurons is no longer a dead thing but the structure is a reality that speaks; and the reality speaks quite loudly in terms of heritage, of experiences encountered long before your physical form knew itself. You perceive realities of which the physical form is aware, but the ego is unaware. Now these realities can become a part of your awareness without drugs. [...]

[...] I am not telling you that reality is a hallucination. I am telling you that each hallucination is a face that reality takes and that within them all the nature of reality resides. [...]

I close by saying, as I have said before: You are given the gift of the gods; you create your reality according to your beliefs; yours is the creative energy that makes your world; there are no limitations to the self except those you believe in.

[...] If you use the methods given in this book, you should know yourself far more intimately than you did before, and be better equipped to handle your personal reality. Simply knowing that you form your reality can free you from some limiting concepts that have held you back in the past. [...]

[...] By doing so, other realities will make themselves known. They will add dimension and depth to your present reality.

[...] Your own consciousness is embarked upon a reality that basically can be experienced by no other, that is unique and untranslatable, with its own meaning, following its own paths of becoming.

The camouflage is so craftily executed and created, of course, by the inner self, that you must of necessity focus your attention in the physical reality which has been created. The psychedelic drugs alter the neurological inner workings, and therefore can give some slight glimpses into other realities.

The realities, of course, exist whether or not you perceive them. [...]

[...] Now following through with our analogy, imagine yourself A. We will start you off in physical reality at thread A, though you have already traversed many other threads to get where you are. [...]

All That Is protects itself therefore, and all that it has, and is, and will create.

[...] I think we’re creating a probable reality in which consciousness has the absolute freedom to explore all facets of itself—every one we can think of, and therefore create. [...] Naturally, many of us don’t like certain facets of our creations, yet we must deal with all of them if we are to make any sense out of our reality. [...]

[...] Again and again in the notes for Dreams I’ve indicated how Jane and I tried to understand the probable reality we’ve created. [...] Jane and I must still have an unbelievable amount to learn, even though I think that in more basic terms certain portions of each individual’s reality are consciously unknowable. [...]

[...] Room is made for the existence of the devil, who rebelled against the God who created him and constantly inveighs others to follow him in choosing the not-good. [...] Through privation theory religion has created unanswerable questions for itself as it seeks to explain man’s inhumanity to man. To me, privation theory is a beautiful example of how man projects his fears of the world he’s created out upon that very world. [...]

I don’t mean at all to put down everything we’ve created in our world, and to proclaim that Seth’s concept of All That Is is [...] I do mean to relate the self-created elements of our interior and exterior, individual and mass worlds to a larger whole of consciousness. [...]

[...] You do not see the dream itself, for even here, after giving a dream reality, electrical existence, you must break it down into simpler terms so that you can perceive what you have indeed created.

Realities existing within this electrical universe are built up through counteractions with the human personality and others. All psychological realities and experiences which are not materialized within the physical universe have their actual reality and existence within the electrical universe.

At a later date I will explain the true nature of this electrical reality, since your idea of electrical reality is extremely limited, and within your field it is perceived but dimly, as a mere shadow of itself.

[...] The electric reality of it, coded in a particular range of intensities, is now in my possession, in what you may call capsule form, though this is not a good analogy. But an explanation will have to wait until you understand more clearly the nature of electrical reality itself.

I’m sure that in much larger terms even negativity is creative, and often in ways we cannot comprehend in our temporal reality, but I do believe that Jane’s work offers more penetrating and redeeming insights into many of those challenges we create. [...]

[...] (Long pause.) Your position on the scale of awareness inclines you to categorize consciousnesses so that only your own familiar brand seems to fit the definition—so again here I remind you that consciousness is everywhere in the deepest terms, because All That Is disperses itself throughout physical reality. All portions of that reality have their own rights to existence, and purposes within it. [...]

10:01 P.M. Near the close of Monday evening’s session, Seth had given us an insight into the nature of his own reality. [...] His statement is particularly intriguing because Seth indicated that in his nonphysical reality, “wherever that is,” he’s still developing, just as we are “here on earth.” [...]

Remember, again, the manifest [universe] emerges from a subjective reality, one that is implied in the very nature of your world itself. [...]

[...] Seth as you know him, is distant in my own past, a reality that I scarcely remember. He is a portion of my reality and as such he continually exists. He does now exist in his own reality. [...] He entered your universe in a reality I find difficult to remember. [...]

[...] You will help create these realities of which I speak. [...]

[...] You stand at the threshold of this door and look into physical reality. [...] When you look from one window, you look out into physical reality. When you look out through other windows, you look into other realities. [...]

What you perceive, using other portions of yourself, can be far more vivid than the reality in which you usually focus your attention. These other realities are not shadowy or dim. [...]

Now: All creation is constant, and physical reality is formed and maintained in mental realms, sparked by psychic (pause) experiences. [...] Action continually working upon itself creates more action.

[...] Your reaction, of course, creates new ones. [...]

[...] It does mean that this insufficient energy will keep this reality at such a low ebb that it will not sufficiently materialize as an event within your system. [...]

[...] As you should know, mental acts have an electromagnetic reality which directly affects the inner self, which directly forms the constantly changing nature of the inner self. [...]

[...] The creative explosions begun with these books still erupt, for “Unknown” Reality does seem to have a life of its own, one that defies definition, and that even now serves as a springboard for new psychic and creative experience. Talk about probable realities! [...] Sometimes I feel like saying: “One reality at a time, please.”

(In the 82nd session, which was held on the evening of August 27, 1964, Seth said: “When man realizes that he, himself, creates his personal and universal environment in concrete terms, then he can begin to create a private and universal environment much superior to the [present] one, that is the result of haphazard and unenlightened constructions.

The two volumes of “Unknown” Reality hardly tie truth up in neat packages, though, so that after completing them the reader can claim to know all of the answers. [...] In a sense, they are incomplete and complicated at times, with new terms, for the unknown reality they attempt to describe will, I fear, always elude us to some extent, and new terms are needed as old ones become stereotyped and worn.

[...] I wanted to show the ever-widening vital reactions that Seth’s dictation of “Unknown” Reality had on our personal lives, and how those effects rippled outward. It’s almost impossible to describe the creative frustration I sometimes felt — for no matter how fast I worked to record the sessions themselves, noted our day’s activities, hunted down the references pertinent to a given discussion, I couldn’t truly keep up: Reality kept splashing over the edges of my notes. [...]

[...] [Your] world did not just come together, mindless atoms forming here and there, elements coalescing from brainless gases—nor was the world, again, created by some distant objectified God who created it part by part as in some cosmic assembly line. [...]

[...] In your terms the magnetic fields themselves fluctuated—but all of the species were there at the beginning, though in the same fashion, for as the dream world broke through into physical reality there was all of the tumultuous excitement and confusion with which a mass creative event is achieved. [...] The species and environment together formed themselves in concert, in glorious combination, so that each fulfilled the requirements of its own existence while adding to the fulfillment of all other portions of physical reality (all very intently, and with many gestures).

[...] I just wish I could present those sessions here, for in them Seth gave us much valuable information—not only about ourselves [including Jane’s somewhat impaired physical condition, her “stiffness”], but about the myriad interchanges occurring constantly between our inner and outer realities, or Frameworks 1 and 2, as he calls them. [...]

In the beginning there was instead, once more, a divine psychological gestalt—and by that I mean a being whose reality escapes the definition of the word “being,” since it is the source from which all being emerges. [...]
