At the precise time of Ruburt’s dream, Miss Cunningham was deciding to leave this plane of reality. [...]

The natural person is to be found, now, not in the past or in the present, but beneath layers and layers of official beliefs, so you are dealing with an archeology of beliefs to find the person who creates beliefs to begin with. As I have said often, evidence of clairvoyance, telepathy, or whatever, are not eccentric, isolated instances occurring in man’s experience, but are representative of natural patterns of everyday behavior that become invisible in your world because of the official picture of behavior and reality.

[...] Ruburt is beginning to hold a more “realistic” picture of how overall reality works. [...]

[...] It represents a certain state of consciousness — an in-between threshold dimension of awareness, in which the imagination and the senses are almost caught in the act of putting an object together, or of bringing the world into a sensed reality, brand-new, from the realm of the inner mind: a very evocative state of consciousness, and one that as I believe Ruburt mentioned, you could also use in connection with faces.

(I’m naturally worried that I’ve created a physical condition, and so is Jane. [...]

[...] I think if I get well I won’t buckle down to work on Mass Reality.

[...] At the same time, I said, I was curious as to whether I did have an ulcer, for instance—that if so, I could see that I’d created that situation in order to contend with certain challenges.)

(9:34.) Now: it is easy to live—so easy that although you live, rest, create, respond, feel, touch, see, sleep and wake, you do not really have to try to do any of those things. [...]

[...] He can begin to change the focus from which he usually views his reality, in whatever way possible, and in the point of power as I suggested. [...]

It goes without saying that as you create physical reality you also form the other planes of existence in which you operate. You do operate simultaneously within all levels of reality and if you become familiar with various coordinates, the self that you know could become aware of your own other existences.

(Pause.) These coordinates form all realities. [...] The inner fabric of reality is far more complicated than outer camouflage as you know it.

It is very possible that physics rather than psychology will give the first hint that human personality is multidimensional and that the inner reality of the mind far surpasses the physical universe that it attempts to probe. [...]

[...] The hallucinations however would be quite valid journeys into other realities.

[...] In those terms (pause), your world’s reality stretches back far further than you imagine, and in those terms—you need the qualifications—your ancestors have visited other stars, as your planet has been visited by others. [...] There are, then, other species like (underlined) your own, and in the vast spectrums of existence that your reality cannot contain, there have been galactic civilizations that came together when the conditions were right.

[...] The terms of reality within your universe cannot hold or contain that vaster context in which such master events happen. [...]

While I am doing that I am also trying to introduce you, intuitively at least, to a larger framework, in which events straddle the reality that you know. [...]

I do not mean by such a description to minimize the importance of physical life, for All That Is endows each portion of its own transformed reality with a unique existence that is duplicated nowhere else, and each spark of consciousness is endowed with a divine heritage that is never extinguished—a spark that is apparent in all other corners of the universe.

It has to do with the mass beliefs that people chose at various times, and the different roads that were taken in your reality. Any road taken in your reality should — but does not — tell you one thing: By the very fact that you have chosen a particular road, you can be sure that other roads, entirely different, have also been taken.

According to your intent, your desire, and your beliefs, your ideas intersect with the reality that you know, with physical space and physical time — they become real, in historic terms. In other realities there are different historical terms. [...]

[...] They were created by the priests and the elite, who made up their own histories to suit their purposes — to hold down the masses, for reasons that I will someday discuss, for they are important. [...]

Within you is the ability to change your ideas about reality and about yourself, to create a personal living experience that is fulfilling to yourself and others. [...]

[...] These personal ideas about yourself and the nature of reality will affect your thoughts and emotions. You take your beliefs about reality as truth, and often do not question them. [...]

[...] They are not recognized as beliefs about reality, but are instead considered characteristics of reality itself. [...]

Each person experiences a unique reality, different from any other individual’s. This reality springs outward from the inner landscape of thoughts, feelings, expectations and beliefs. [...]

Religion, having in certain terms created the entire concept, had then to create the idea of redemption to rectify it. [...]

(The whole experience was obviously very therapeutic, and to me it seemed like an excellent sign of encountering beliefs that had helped create her Sinful Self. [...]

[...] Also an accomplishment that clearly stood out as a direct challenge to religion and science, that not only contradicted their theories but offered an alternate framework through which reality could be experienced. [...]

[...] What you call nature refers of course to your particular experience with reality, but quite different kinds of manifestations are also “natural” outside of that context. The laws of nature that I am in the process of explaining underlie all realities, then, and form a firm basis for multitudinous kinds of “natures.” [...]

(In my Introductory Notes for Volume 1 of “Unknown” Reality, I explained how Jane acknowledges the mail we get from our readers by sending them copies of letters from Seth and herself; to the latter she adds a few personal lines for each correspondent. [...]

(In those notes I also referred to an earlier letter that Seth had dictated for readers in January 1973, and it can be found in Chapter 8 of Personal Reality. [...]

(Pause, then forcefully:) I am trying to temper my statements here, but your psychology of the past 50 years has helped create insanities by trying to reduce the great individual thrust of life that lies within each person, to a generalized mass of chaotic impulses and chemicals — a mixture, again, of Freudian and Darwinian thought, misapplied.

When your scientists finally decipher the physical realities behind the birth of your known universe, they will only discover that this was an exterior manifestation of a vital psychic reality that existed long before. [...] An idea on your plane gives birth to physical constructions, but the idea itself is merely a translation of another reality, which gave birth to it.

[...] There is not as you may think some definite, finite amount of energy, from which all things must be created. [...]

[...] He is a particular personality formed purposely, and not in a random fashion, the inner ego creating a replica of itself to function within a definite, peculiar set of circumstances. [...]

[...] I believe that those particular aspects of scientific consciousness and religious consciousness will be with us for a very long time, for in our chosen earthly reality a larger consciousness—and, ultimately, All That Is—has opted for much long-range exploration of those two closely related portions of itself. In our probability we can create both very transcendent and very painful portions of that dual exploration. [...]

Once more, as I’ve done often in recent years, I expressed the hope to myself that in another probable reality very similar to this one I opted for the outdoor life in a much stronger way—even to living outside night and day for most of the year. [...] Not that I want to copy Cézanne, for instance [I couldn’t even if I wanted to], but in that other reality I too chose to live the natural life in a more naive or clear-eyed manner—to sublimate myself before nature while at the same time trying to become master of whatever means of expression I can achieve.

[...] Especially do I like to interpret his material tonight as meaning that Jane is “a psychic or a mystic,” for to me, at least, this means that in this physical life she’s chosen to penetrate as deeply as she can the depths of reality, or consciousness.

[...] At least from my viewpoint, each of nature’s rhythmic signs implied a continuity, an inevitability and security, that I’ve often felt is lacking in our all-too-human affairs—this, even though I wrote in Mass Events that Jane and I are aware, of course, of all the “good things” we humans have constructed in our mass reality. Smoking represents among other things, to him, a blanket of insulation, not only between himself and exterior reality, but a blanket between himself and interior reality. [...]

Any action that affects the physical individual also has its reality within many other fields, and its effects and its nature are felt within them. [...]

[...] Indeed, the need for the habits creates the exterior habit. [...]

You are one conscious version of yourself, creating along with all of your contemporaries the realities of the times. [...]

The inner references of reality involve a different kind of experience entirely, with organizational patterns that mix and merge at every conceivable point. You tune your consciousness while you sleep as one might tune a piano, so that in waking reality, it clearly perceives the proper notes and values that build up into physical experience. [...]

At one time, then, you were more open in a fashion to the kinds of consciousness that you admitted into your circle of reality. [...] Such species, of course, can nowhere appear within the dictates of evolution or be perceived as realities except under those conditions when you relax your usual conventions of perception and behavior.

[...] I think that through Seth tonight she beautifully discusses several of her key insights into the nature of reality—and I don’t think it has ever been done any better.)

“You make your own reality.” [...] What Seth is really saying here is that our impulses are meant to help us create our own realities on a personal basis in a way that will enhance both our private lives and our civilizations.

[...] It represents a turning away of consciousness from ordinary reality toward an inner one. [...] I am touched by those events and so are you; so even while I sit in trance, dictating books as Seth, I can’t after all stray too far from our joint reality. [...] The glass of wine on the coffee table before me, the cigarettes, and the mass-produced table itself, are all reminders that my most adventuresome journeys into other realities are rooted, for now at least, in the physical world of events that we all share together.

[...] In this current book, however, he discusses in depth how our private realities merge into mass experience. [...]

[...] Perhaps this isn’t a good analogy — Seth is far from a dream character, and in fact I hardly ever dream of him at all — but he is a personality whose platform of reality isn’t the same as ours, a personality who writes books through me, but from his standpoint, not mine.

Your mother loved physical reality and took the greatest pleasure in its most minute aspects, for all of her complaints. [...] Each of your parents had their strongest reality, this time, and in your terms, in a probable system of reality — and here (in this reality) they were offshoots. [...]

(To me again:) Your birth (in 1919) coincided with the birth of your mother’s child in that other reality, hence her stronger feelings toward you. Your birth, and that of your youngest brother (Richard) were highly charged for her — yours for the reasons just given, and your brother’s because it represented the time of your mother’s hysterectomy in that other reality. In this reality, Richard’s birth represented your father’s final attempt to deal with emotional reality. [...]

[...] Ruburt’s mystical nature was such a strong portion of the entire identity that in his present reality, and in the probable reality chosen — as mentioned when I discussed this picture (of Jane) — the mystic impulses and expressions were given play. Intersections with probable realities occur when one psychic grouping intensifies to a certain point, so that fulfillment as a self results.

(9:44.) Give us a moment … Your parents literally did not share the same reality at all. [...] They met and related in a place between each of their realities. [...]

[...] After all, I said, man is but one species who creates his perception of the living earth in concert with nearly innumerable other species — and each other species does the same thing from its viewpoint. Even with his seemingly destructive ways, man can injure that joint reality only to a minor extent, regardless of such potential fiascos as that posed by Three Mile Island, or even nuclear war.
