I expect you to form a new class reality and certain of you will be involved with a joint out-of-body experience and other experiences in the future. The reality of the class, therefore, as it always has, will change. [...]

(Following a discussion of last week’s class and how it helped each one.)

Now, regardless of those who come and go within this class we shall achieve a state of trust and this is one of the ways that we shall achieve it. [...]

Now when, in Ruburt’s terms, you click as a group within this class, you will know that you have done so, and your experiments and experiences will really take bloom. [...]

Obviously, some ESP class members met counterparts in class. But I know that I’ve also met a counterpart outside of class, and later in life: Laurel Lee Davies, the beautiful young lady from Iowa who’s been my loving companion for some years now, following Jane’s death in 1984. [...]

(The first part of the class session was devoted to the playback of a counseling interview Brad had with Dr. Gilbert Holloway. The members of the class were being asked their reactions when Seth interrupted with the following observations:)

[...] He did not ask you to discover what needs within you were being satisfied in your marriage, anymore, my dear friend, than you asked yourself why you brought the tape to class this evening. [...]

(Seth first referred to his incarnation as a minor Pope in Jane’s ESP class session for May 15, 1971. [...]

(“I had two illegitimate children [class laughter], a mistress that sneaked into my private study, a magician that I kept in case I did not do too well on my own, a housekeeper who was pregnant every year that I had her, and three daughters who joined a nunnery because I would not have them — and I am referred to in barely three paltry lines, for my reign did not last very long.

[...] My name was not Clement [in answer to a question from a class member] although Clement is a lovely name.

[...] I believed and did not believe, as you [to a class member] earlier believed and did not believe, and I did a good job of hiding from myself what I believed and what I did not believe. [...]

Both Ruburt’s new experiments in class, and his affair with the hands represent growing receptivity and willingness on his part. In many ways the hand episode was the result of class work. Some of the experiments in class gave him confidence, and I gave him confidence and a challenge. [...] I appeared in class and he did not see me, and his friend did. [...]

[...] I felt fine towards Joel the first night because the minute you started talking, for weeks I had been coming to class, when I would see the war paint on him I would get a terrible pain in my head. I remarked several times in class about I had this pain in my head, and I couldn’t work it out no matter what I did. [...]

(During the past few weeks Jane has had but a few sessions for her ESP class and a couple of personal ones for us. [...]

[...] She hasn’t read it beyond the first part of Chapter Four, although I gave her a short excerpt from Chapter Six to read to her ESP class. [...]

[...] It is stupidity in class to worry that suggestion would cause a given result... [...] And therefore as Ruburt is very careful that suggestion is not involved, so he has also had you be overly cautious, and there have been many opportunities in class that you have missed for this reason... [...]

[...] Possibly, with some help from certain directions, we shall see what we can do in other classes. [...]

ESP CLASS

[...] I had been typing a session in my studio, while class met in our living room. The session had been recorded by a class member, as usual, and we’ll have a transcript of it in a few days.)

Suicides, as a class, for example, do not have any particular “punishment” meted out to them, nor is their condition any worse a priori. [...]

[...] She wasn’t as active or strong as she had been last night, though, when she held a session for her ESP class. [...]

You should have been here for last night’s ESP class session. [...]

[...] There is a member of the class — and (with obvious amusement) I will close my innocent eyes so that I do not give the secret away — but there is a class member who is indeed a fine Jesuit, handling problems of great weight, having to do with the nature of religion. There is a renegade priest who has been in this class, and who ran off to California; he likes to put the boot to theology and “do his own thing.” [...]

[...] The first clue came in a private, or deleted, session held a week ago on Monday night [November 18, 1974]; the second hint was given in ESP class on the following evening.

[...] In ESP class the following night, Seth indicated that he was ready to expand his concepts of personality still further — though, again, he didn’t mention counterparts per se. [...]

[...] (To the class:) That is, he knew the black woman was not in the physical room with him in this space and time, running through his studio [where he had the experience]. [...]

(This was an unscheduled session, held for Jane’s Thursday night ESP class, and not planned at all. [...]

(Earlier in the day I had heard Jane remark casually, after a little talk between us, that if she felt like it she would let Seth come through during class tonight. [...]

(This afternoon Jane held her first creative writing class.)

[...] I gave her a couple of short passages to read to her ESP class. [...]

You are aware of the selves that sit in this room on a particular evening of a snowstorm with certain members of the class present, certain members of the class absent, and some new people here, but I am familiar with the inner portions of yourselves that you also know but that the egotistical self has hidden from you. [...]

[...] I have said this before in class, you are as dead now, and as alive now, as you will ever be. [...]

Now when I said in the last class session that I preferred, if you must project your thoughts and images upon me that, instead of thinking of me as a wise old man, you thought of me as a lark in the morning, I meant because I am such an old bird. [...]
