[...] She had a smoke, then tried to read yesterday’s session after I’d massaged her neck, but she couldn’t do it very well so I ended up reading it to her. I wanted to go over some of the past sessions in this group with her, but we never did get to it, what with cigarettes, people coming in, my reading her letters from a fan and Steve Blumenthal, and so forth. [...] She said it hurt too much—not that it was worse, but that the “pins and needles” that resulted from my touch were too uncomfortable. [...]

[...] It is only by comprehending the nature of this constant translation of thoughts and desires — not into words now, but into physical objects — that you can realize your true independence from circumstance, time, and environment.

Now, it is easy to see that you translate feelings into words or bodily expressions and gestures, but not quite as easy to realize that you form your physical body as effortlessly and unselfconsciously as you translate feelings into symbols that become words.

[...] But before we are finished we will see that basically speaking, each of you create the book you hold in your hands, and that your entire physical environment comes as naturally out of your inner mind as words come out of your mouths, and that man forms physical objects as unselfconsciously and as automatically as he forms his own breath.

Such a person might imagine his or her anger or fury filling up the inside of a gigantic balloon that is then pricked by a needle, exploding in pieces from the pressure within, with debris falling everywhere — out over the ocean, or caught up by the wind, but in any case dispersed in whatever way seems agreeable to the patient.

(Seth said he did not know whether Marian could learn rapidly enough how to do this; but if she could get herself on the right track soon, he said, she would not need the operation in June; a medical examination then would show that the tumor was shrinking, and would continue to shrink. [...]

[...] Seth also included suggestions for Marian regarding therapeutic dreams; at breaks Jane and I explained what we could, but left feeling there was much we didn’t have time to include. [...]

[...] You also possess what is often called the subconscious, and this merely consists of feelings, thoughts or experiences that are connected to your conscious mind, but would be considered excess baggage if you had to be aware of them all of the time. [...]

(Long pause at 4:06.) It is sometimes fashionable to say that men and women have conscious minds, subconscious minds, and unconscious minds — but there is no such thing as an unconscious mind. [...]

[...] It hurt at first, but then the jaw cleared up and she felt much better. [...]

[...] The release however then of muscles previously tight can be initially unpleasant, but this soon passes, as other groups of muscles relax gradually in response. [...]

[...] The twin who was in the military found his sense of identity as a soldier within the system, but he had great faith in the system... [...] but also at the same time you wanted the sense of security that you felt the other brother had... [...]

[...] Before the session tonight Jane said she hoped Seth would explain the occurrence, but surprisingly — even though a considerable amount of personal material was received — the matter wasn’t covered.

No one begins a race with a handicap, you may say, but that is obviously not the case. [...]

[...] Yet in all instances not only do children choose their parents ahead of time, but parents choose their children, of course.

[...] But on other levels, through the contrasting focuses of poverty and wealth, scientific accomplishments or the lack of them, opposites are brilliantly apparent. [...]

I say this not to minimize your efforts so far, but only to give you a hint of how much is still to come. [...]

We may as well carry this further right now, in spite of certain dangers of misinterpretation that could, but I hope will not, result. [...]

Matter, atoms and molecules, represent but one aspect and one single dimension of a far greater reality. [...]

[...] She did not tell the Pipers, but she had the whole name in mind by the time the pointer had moved to the letter F. She was quite surprised, and has never had the experience before, although it has been some months since either of us watched others working the board—indeed, since the Seth material began to flow. Such communications exist at all levels, but for his own personal reasons, and because of your relationship, Ruburt in particular tuned into your own greater personality with those attributes of love, deep understanding, and respect that often seem so difficult, it seems, to express adequately.

(4:35 p.m. “It wasn’t terribly vivid,” Jane said about her experience, after I’d read the session to her, “but it was noticeable enough to be noticed — you know what I mean?” I said that in the session she’d effectively answered her own questions about the experience. [...]

(There are indeed “new twists” in the material, some of which I cannot really put into words — but Seth’s creative gifts have yet to be exhausted, I note.

You had a brief life as twins—some definite clear-cut divisions within yourself, have to do with this life when you were one of two—one going one way, and one going the other—one twin had a strong leaning toward military things—a soldier—the organization of the church now serves the same purpose, I believe—security within the organization—the twin who was in the military found his sense of identity as a soldier within the system, but he had great faith in the system—in what he was doing—the other twin was more given to a statesman-like sort of thing—and was in fact an orator, although he had another profession—it included oration to people—the two of you had a very strong telepathic relationship—and this time the church has provided the same kind of organization—you sort of resented the fact that this twin brother of yours had this organization in which he found support and in which he felt so a part because he was absolutely certain of the aims and goals of the organization and he was a good soldier within it—and at that time you envied him that security and that sense of identity within the system in which he believed. This time the orator part of you is still strong in that you want to teach and like to talk and to discuss issues—but also at the same time you wanted the sense of security that you felt the other brother had—also you picked up his desire to go to battle for, only in this case you are using battle for ideas that you are struggling for. [...]

There is a compassion, a jovial yet understanding one, that I can feel for such activities that is more difficult for you to experience, but in many cases the drama—the gods or devils who seem (underlined) to speak through the board, the sense of importance felt by the participators, the heightened emotional activity—all of these provide often, rich elements of experience otherwise lacking from a mundane daily existence.
