This is not the reason for all such deaths by any means, but there is usually an implied statement in them so that the death seems to have an additional meaning that makes parents and contemporaries question. [...]

(10:05.) The inner mechanics of emotions and beliefs are complicated, but these are individuals who feel that physical life has failed them. [...]

(The swelling on her shoulder was up again, but I noticed there was no drainage at all from her knee, nor was there for the rest of the afternoon. [...] I could hardly make her do something she didn’t want to do, but I didn’t say that either. [...]

Lately, when he lies down, and the pressure is off, his hips, hip joints, and hamstrings have begun new adjustments that are at a certain level uncomfortable—but because that frightens him the discomfort is more than it would be otherwise. [...]

This discussion may require more understanding than you or Ruburt possess, but I do not believe so. [...]

[...] She said that Seth would have ended the session by 10 o’clock, but that she decided to continue.

“Now,” I mentally said to my departed loved one in all sincerity, “if we had the chance to do it all over again, I’d suggest that we dispense with all divisions—that we regard the Seth material as a great whole, any part of which, public or private or in between, has the creative power to help not only us but many others. [...] There are those who do this quite deliberately with training, but often they do not realize that they are interpreting the experiences they have with the values of their “home” consciousness.

[...] You do this individually, but you also do it en masse on national and global levels.

[...] Then there is an undifferentiated level between wakefulness and sleep where you act as a receiver — passive but open, in which telepathic and clairvoyant messages come to you quite easily.

[...] Her voice was quite a bit deeper also, but not loud; and it was very slow and with many pauses.)

[...] I could have told you more had you asked me, but another voice could have broken the connection. [...]

(Bill Gallagher doubted that warships were used by merchantmen but Seth told us this was common in those days; all ships had to be armed anyhow as a protection against piracy. [...] Seth quite emphatically reminded us that most of the time he “kept his feet on dry land,” but he did talk about a few voyages he made. [...]

[...] He picked up accurately enough that the test object could be held in the hand, had a connection with water and an indentation—the opening in the teapot—but erred in the rock or stone terminology, the color and the word nondescript. Bill indicated the color of the teapot in his sketch, saying the object is anything but nondescript. [...]

[...] The noise had bothered me, but Jane said that as she was speaking she was aware of no distractions.

[...] I then found myself traveling down this particular side street, approaching the light in question, but without remembering the dream to this moment.

[...] It does become more active, and to some degree more permissive under such conditions, but the flexibility involved adds to its strength in beneficial ways.

Without a sense of joy and inner accomplishment and development of potential, the personality will not only fail to flourish, but the inner self will refuse to maintain the physical structure adequately. [...]

[...] Jane wasn’t at her best tonight, I could see, but wanted to have the session.

[...] But so are you. [...]

[...] But Christ, my condition is worse than poverty; so—out it goes. I may be a slow learner but once I DO learn—I do.

[...] She took Darvoset and aspirin, but these didn’t help. [...]

This particular group of people are also usually possessed by an extraordinary anger: they are furious at themselves for not being able to showcase their own strength and power — but “forced” instead into a kind of behavior that appears sometimes frightening and humiliating.

(4:49 p.m. Joe discussed his fears with me last night when I visited him, but I didn’t get a chance to tell Jane about them until I saw her in 330 this afternoon. [...]

[...] I’ve barely mentioned them in recent notes — just for sessions 696 and 698 — but Seth has had a good deal to say about them in current personal material.] Many of the dreams have been quite long and involved. [...]

[...] At trance levels we intersect, but we don’t meet. [...]

“Camouflage” became a familiar word to us in those early sessions, and we thought it an excellent one for Seth’s purposes — but rather oddly, except for using it once in a while in recent years, he’s largely dropped it from his vocabulary.

[...] Both of us felt somewhat tired, but attributed it to the weather, which has been cloudy and oppressive for the past few days. Jane and I try to ignore such factors consciously, but have no doubt we feel the psychic effects of weather as much as anybody else.

[...] This ability is obviously not only inherent within the human race, but it is used constantly in your ordinary life to some degree. [...]

[...] They occur to some degree fairly frequently, but this period is one in which they are strong enough to exert some force.

[...] I was aware of a greatly enlarged feeling in each of the fingers to some degree, as before, but this time the feeling that my fingers were somehow united into a pawlike or clublike unit was dominant.

[...] You briefly consider streets One and Two, but rather quickly decide against them. [...] But in that instant, inner computations occur as you consider making a fairly simple decision, and the immediate area is checked against all portions of your knowledge.⁷

[...] “I almost think I could go to bed right now, but I know I won’t. There: I just picked up the next two or three sentences for after break,” she said as she got up and moved about, “but they can wait.”

[...] But while you stand almost equally attracted by streets Three and Four, then you send out mental and psychic energy in those directions.

[...] (Long pause, eyes closed.) These are not just esoteric statements, but valid clues about the nature of your own behavior, meant to give you a sense of your own freedom, and to emphasize the importance of your choice.

He is still highly cautious at invoking your displeasure but he is not terrified, as at the wrath of some overbearing god. [...]

[...] He could try both for a while, but this would be by far the most difficult of choices, and I do not recommend it.

(Several times in recent sessions Seth has told us that Jane is to hear from someone in Wisconsin, relative to a publishing venture and/or her ESP book, but nothing has developed yet.)

The body is amazingly quick to act upon environmental cues of a physical nature, but your world also involves cultural activity and “dangers” that are not immediately biologically perceivable. [...]

[...] The body might object, but it still must rely upon the conscious mind’s interpretation of events, that it realizes are beyond its realm.

[...] The body is freeing itself, but greater freedom must be allowed as far as impulses are concerned, so that Ruburt can realize that his impulses are not threatening. [...]

[...] The vitamins are a help, but not when they are taken constantly. [...]

[...] You have emotions; you have thoughts; you have a physical body—but you are far more than these. [...] But a summer day is composed of far more than the sun and the clouds in the sky. [...]

[...] But the bacon goes through your physical system and the thoughts of emotion, left alone, will pass through your psychic system. [...]

[...] And I demand that, furthermore, that discipline operate and that the soil shall follow my command, but I do not allow the soil any spontaneity of its own—and I do not allow the sun any spontaneity of its own—and I do not agree that the sun knows what it is doing. [...]

[...] I still read the deleted material for myself on most days, paint a little, do chores, work on the files, the yard, help Jane, record dreams—but I try to do all of these things at an easy pace while trusting that I’ll continue to reconcile opposing beliefs, and see more physical and creative improvements.
