(Jane spoke this evening in a very quiet voice that often bore quite humorous, if gentle, overtones. She took many pauses, some of them very long. It soon became apparent that the session would not be a long one. She waited well over a minute to begin speaking after she sat down and closed her eyes.)

He began to search actually from childhood in a natural fashion toward some larger framework that would offer an explanation for reality that bore at least some resemblance to the natural vision of his best poetry. [...]
