(Last night Jane was extremely uncomfortable lying on her back; the bedsore on her left hip bothered her endlessly, she said. She took Darvoset and aspirin, but these didn’t help. She was on her back when I got to 330 today, and felt much better, although not at ease. I told her that at lunch time John Bumbalo had called and said that his father wouldn’t be going home for a while: the doctor has found an infection in a lung. No one knew about this yesterday.)
