I cannot impress upon you too much, however, the importance of those early sessions on the Magical Approach, for they will make even more sense to you now after the hospital experience. You will also, it seems, be far more willing to accept such ideas, not quite as stubborn in the retention of old belief.

(Long pause.) I am speaking primarily to Ruburt in this particular sentence, but to some extent this applies to both of you, particularly involving the projecting of negative beliefs into the future. There is no reason why, with proper attitudes, even within your situation, that the typing of my last book should not go easily, Joseph. Ruburt’s hands will improve. Normal writing will become as real to him as his normal hearing is now.

For now I bid you a fond good evening—but your policy of sitting and waiting is a good one, at least several times a week.... I did not suggest that you go to the medical profession, or suggest you stay away from it specifically, knowing that your own beliefs would lead toward the proper decision whichever way it fell.
