(No session was held last Monday night because Jane was so relaxed, just as she was now. Her bodily changes continue, with some good news about improvements in her legs contributed by Frank Longwell after an examination. So does her active dream-experience nightlife, still based upon, often, television programs. Jane had a “scary” dream episode last night, one that was quite unpleasant, she said, and involved her seeing herself in different time frames and three different programs or movies on TV at the same time. By now she can’t say why the episode had been so frightening.

This applies to everyone, of course. All of you have a hand in the formation of world events. Those connections are worked out at all levels of reality, in the waking state through your communication devices and culture, and through the far more complicated arena of the culture of dreams. Your dreams are your own, yet they interact with others, and the dreams of others are background issues in your own dream encounters.

In one manner or another, each person mirrors the experience of the world, while also adding to that experience in an original way, impressing reality as no other individual could. It is true to say that reality as you understand it changes as each individual changes. Your thoughts then do change the world, whether you act upon your thoughts or not, they have their effect.

It has provided you with an extra framework through which to view reality. Now yours is, say, the poetry of painting. Now in the philosophical area we are discussing, you are also dealing with imaginative leaps, with casts of mind and spirit that are as rare as true artistic ability is. In that area you are asked to merge philosophical insights with the practical, everyday nitty-gritty of life. You are asked to bring those delicate understandings to practical flowering—a considerable task, and doubly so when the philosophical issues involved go so against the established grain of historically accepted knowledge.

Exactly what were the mechanisms of such defense systems, as individuals used them? Nations use them in the same way. All of this can be quite difficult to explain. It would be highly unusual for Ruburt to have been untouched by the belief systems of his times—particularly if he had set out to change them. (Pause.) You are not simply trying to look at the world differently, for example, or to change a hypothetical reality, but to creatively bring about some version of a creative and artistic vision that results not simply in greater poems or paintings, but in greater renditions of reality (all very intently.
