(Today we had the lawn mowed by Bill Tolbert and Jeff Colucci, who were recruited for the steady job by Frank. It’s the first time this year that the grass has all been cut at once.

(Many changes continue to take place in Jane’s body. As we sat for the session she reported extra movement in her right eye—increased muscular activity that she could feel even in her throat. “I’m just waiting,” she said at 8:56. We’d had a late supper. The day had been beautiful if cool much of the time.

Such expressions do not mean backsliding on his part. They should be recognized for what they are, and he should (underlined) definitely express them to you when he feels that way. They are momentary—or at least having expressed themselves in a certain rhythm they then give way to other positive experience. This does not mean that he should concentrate upon them, of course. This period of time is leading you both away from black or white patterns of thought to some degree, so that you can consider the aspects of your lives, bothered less by absolutes. It is certainly time to look at your prerogatives, as I have stressed. Love-making, expressions of loving support and encouragement should come higher up on your lists on both of your parts than before.

(It’s Sunday night, June 7, as I type this session. On Friday noon Frank Longwell visited. Jane told him that that morning I’d had considerable difficulty lifting her in the bathroom. In fact, my back was bothering me considerably, whether the cause was physical, psychological, or both.
