(Jane was in a low mood for part of the day, but perked up before I took my nap. She wrote one verse of a poem this morning, but isn’t very pleased with it. We didn’t try the table today, but she did do the healing energy thing, and evidently with some success: She’s to write a description of it to insert in the pendulum notebook. I’m still carrying her in the john, but with increasing difficulty, I’m afraid. Frank Longwell visited today.

(Today I picked up from Mr. Steiner the life-size enlargements of my parents; they’re remarkably good, and I plan to paint portraits of the folks from them. I also plan to do the same procedure with Jane and perhaps others.

Such expressions do not mean backsliding on his part. They should be recognized for what they are, and he should (underlined) definitely express them to you when he feels that way. They are momentary—or at least having expressed themselves in a certain rhythm they then give way to other positive experience. This does not mean that he should concentrate upon them, of course. This period of time is leading you both away from black or white patterns of thought to some degree, so that you can consider the aspects of your lives, bothered less by absolutes. You can help him there as he discusses his feelings. He depends upon creativity, for example, as you do, to provide a more or less steady source of enjoyment, excitement, personal accomplishment—not to mention livelihood —and as per last evening’s session, creativity operates in ways that may appear uncertain.

(9:56 PM. Jane’s delivery had been good. “The thought of adding rooms makes me shudder,” I laughed—“not that we might not do it....” Jane laughed too, while agreeing she’s thought of alterations often. Right now, though, she’s much more interested in once again feeling well enough to start doing some typing, writing, or whatever. Her double vision continues to plague her.

(I decided to rebuild it, so Saturday morning I went to the lumber yard for the supplies, and spent the day doing the work, including cutting down the chair even more. The larger rollers especially helped. [I’d changed the original, fancy rollers Frank had used, but the replacements were also too small.]. The new chair worked much better, but Jane had trouble keeping the cushion in place. My back bothered me considerably Friday and Saturday.
