(Jane became so relaxed as session time approached that she told me several times that she’d have to put off the session until tomorrow night. At the same time, she had a lot of material in mind from Seth—on the glass experience; a dream I’d had on August 1, in which I’d found her lying on the floor in the bathroom doorway; and a fairly strong earthquake that had struck south of San Francisco, California, this afternoon. Seth, she said somewhat wonderingly, planned to tie all of these episodes together. They seemed to make up a most unlikely combination. Jane also sensed more information pertaining to my questions of a few sessions ago, on the relationship of disease with human beings.

(“I guess I’m confused,” Jane said as we sat there. “I’m so relaxed, yet I feel all that material there. I want it but I don’t feel like doing it.... Oh, all right,” she finally laughed as I worked on these notes. “I’ll have the session. At least I’ll try....”)

When Ruburt allows his body to relax, it uses the opportunity while it has it, so that the relaxation seems exaggerated. It is most beneficial, however. If he really trusted it this evening, he would simply have had a change of plan, and held our session tomorrow. But then he worried that perhaps he might not get all of the material tomorrow, so it is a matter of learning to trust yourself (with some gentle humor).
