“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(Both of us have been rereading Seth’s own resolutions for the New Year frequently, as given on January 1, 1979. Before tonight’s session Jane read over the questions I’ve written out, derived from my reading of the 367th session. We discussed them briefly. I could list many more, but probably won’t. I still don’t think Seth would want to spend much time discussing that old material in any detail, since he’s said many times that focusing on what was wrong in the past is negative and self-defeating.

(Willy kept bugging me as I tried to make notes for this session—sitting as he does close to me on the couch, wanting to stare at me and be petted at the same time, while I try to accomplish something. “I hope Seth doesn’t talk too loud,” Jane said as we waited for him to come through, “or I might lose that tooth.” It was loose.)

When you disapprove of yourselves, for example, again you rob yourselves of comforts meant to support you. The psychiatrist’s letter (Dr. Beahrs) represents but one communication, but many others read the material and use it, and do not write you, any more than you write to other authors. And again, a book may sell in the millions, and still go in one mental ear and out the other while our books literally do change lives—and to that extent the world—for the better.

(Interesting, that this afternoon, the 9th, we were visited by Marian Merrill. whom we haven’t talked with for perhaps a year. She dropped in for a visit, bringing a pudding cake and a Christmas card to her from an old friend-classmate of Marian’s; Marian had seen her friend last year for the first time in 15 years. On the card the feminine friend asked Marian to tell Jane that “the books” had changed her life for the better. Marian had laughed and said that now she’s going to read the books also, to see what had so moved her friend. Marian knows of the Seth thing.

(A note: Seth’s material reminded me of his comments in the deleted 371st session for October 11, 1967. I read it last night; Seth answered my questions about what he sees when he looks at me, both as himself, and through Jane’s eyes. Very interesting, and material both of us had forgotten many years ago.)

P.S.: In those old sessions filed away, there is also material in which I stressed the importance of making love. Your experience last night reminded me.

(I raised a hand before Seth could slip away. “How about his dream last night? Did he remember enough of it to interpret it correctly?”

Ruburt did an excellent job with that, and the dream also shows that so-called unconscious material will come to the surface of the mind when it is requested. Those beliefs, however, were not really unconscious at all. His interpretation was correct.
