They hired detectives to find each other—a clear-cut motive that seemingly had little to do with their own separate personal lives, their jobs, or their families. They could not then see the entire picture, or understand for example that a seemingly innocuous, or even a seemingly unfortunate event, that led from a move to one place from another, had anything to do with the search.
