(I hadn’t had time to buy Jane’s birthday presents, although we both know what she wants—hot plate for the kitchen, and a summer bed spread. We’ve had a succession of visitors, all but one of them unannounced, and have lost work time as a result. Saturday, for example, I wasn’t able to get out of the house to go food shopping.)

That activation has indeed begun now the highly important release of the upper portions of the body. Areas are being reawakened, and circulation greatly increased in certain areas. It is not necessary to trace nerve pathways, and yet the stretching of both legs and muscles reawakens and quickens nerve impulses. All portions of the body are now being stretched.

This may sound simple, and yet all such considerations serve to weigh you both down, and they color your attitudes far more than you realize.

(This rather humorous material from Seth was in reference to a talk Jane and I had, at my instigation, several days ago, when I idly speculated about asking Scott Meredith to personally represent us. I think I got off on that tack because I was concerned about getting money that Prentice had withheld against returns. [That dilemma has since been resolved.] In the meantime, both Jane and I had forgotten all about the Meredith question.)

You are making a good living. There is nothing at all wrong with wanting, say, to become a millionaire, but if you simply concentrate upon the creative, personal elements in your lives—your writing in the notes, your painting, Ruburt’s writing and psychic freedom, then everything else will fall into place. You will each have more frequent and fulfilling psychic experiences as a result. The other ideas I mentioned, to some extent now cast an unclear light, so that the attitudes they evoke are in conflict with your original, most persuasive goals.

(10:28.) In Ruburt’s case such considerations make him feel set against the world, where actually that social world has rather agreeably enough allowed you room and a certain platform on its stage, through your readership. You have a considerable number of people, considerable, in all walks of life who wish you well. There is no need for Ruburt to anticipate scorn. There is no need either, however, for him to imagine that he has any responsibility to go out into that mixed social arena to do tours or appear on television.

(Recently Jane was told that a complete set of class tapes, with transcripts was being offered by someone on the West Coast for around $255.00 for 55 of them—$5.00 or thereabouts a tape. During a call to Tam this morning, he advised Jane to “put a stop” to the affair before it went too far—to at least write the people involved a letter. Jane has asked Sheri Perl for the names and addresses to do this, and plans to write a letter. We think the quality of the tapes must be very poor. There’s also copyright infringement, since some of the class sessions have been published. Jane is against the whole thing on esthetic and invasion-of-privacy grounds, not monetary ones so much, and I guess my feelings about it all are too ambiguous. At the same time, it all sounds familiar, as if we heard about someone doing the same thing last year, say.
