DELETED SESSION
[... 1 paragraph ...]
(I told Jane at suppertime tonight that she was having a session this evening. The reasons were obvious, I thought: This morning she’d awakened with her neck, back, and so forth in a very rigid state—so I wanted to know what had happened yesterday, or recently, to bring about this state of affairs when we’d thought we were making at least a modest kind of progress. There had been a number of developments in the past few days, and the session that follows outlines some of those as they apply to Jane’s condition, so there’s little need to repeat them here.

(Jane asked me not to read any of my original notes to her before the session, since she was trying to get herself in a quiet mood so that she could have a good session.)

Now: you worked with the pendulum yesterday. You did not work with the pendulum however regarding those specific events (since they all took place after our morning pendulum work). A good portion of the session will deal with such issues.

The pendulum sessions have also served to bring issues out into the open. I watched you both with those sessions, and tried gently to monitor how you handled them. With the best of intentions, you have made a few errors there.
First of all, many of the questions reinforce the idea of fear, for example, or lack of safety, each time they are asked. Am I afraid of the world? Am I afraid of my neighbors? Am I afraid of inspiration, or whatever? Do I trust the world or inspiration or whatever?—but your questions themselves are now loaded with built-in negative suggestions. Besides this, in an odd fashion, they lack a certain specific nature, as I will shortly explain, and there are too many of them by far to be handled at one session. That is, their number precludes any one single clear path, specifically noted. I want to stress the purposes they have served, and their general nature and so forth did help to bring up a variety of important issues. You now have too jumbled a variety of material to effectively handle.

Ruburt usually has a variety of bodily sensations, often simultaneously: some pleasant and relaxing, while others may be unpleasant. Again, with the best of intentions, the focus of your pendulum sessions has not been of the best lately. And you yourselves felt swamped by so much material. I am aware that often neither of you thinks Ruburt is improving one whit—and of course that is part of the difficulty. It is not the other way around, however it appears to you. Ideally, Ruburt could completely recover with no discomfort. Practically, he is indeed experiencing more discomfort than he needs to.

I do not know how you want to handle this, but the two of you should go over that page of feelings together. According to the day, the situation, you may then want to work with the pendulum, considering some specific event or issue from that day—but this need not be a lengthy session at all. With your discussion, perhaps 10 minutes with the pendulum would be sufficient, The pendulum also can be used when any event occurs—again, when specifics apply.

End of session. Now prepare questions if you want for our next session, but read this one over carefully, first. The only hint I can give you for your benefit is one, again, that I have given you often before: try to imagine Ruburt’s complete recovery as a creative endeavor—a creative venture, in which all kinds of inner events occur even before, and way before, the completed picture shows itself.

It is as if you have page 5 of a book, and glare at it because the entire manuscript is not there, and fuss and fume at what might happen to prevent the next page being written. End of session.
