Now before I leave you then for the night I will make a recommendation. The telephone situation as it occurred on two occasions lately brings up in both of you a beautiful case of beliefs, conflicting beliefs, on both of your parts. Whenever such charged situations happen they are always the result of beliefs not consciously examined. These have to do on both of your parts with ideas of spontaneity and communication. I refer to the Cec Lord event and the man calling the other evening.
Behind the events therefore are highly charged beliefs about (underlined) reality, that you have not examined, either of you, and about your relationship with each other, your stance in regard to the outside world, as well as ideas about freedom, spontaneity and responsibility.
I want you then to make a list of your beliefs concerning those events. If you consider them as beliefs that you hold, both of you, then you should be able to discuss them calmly, and understand what happens. You have not understood your own beliefs, much less communicated them to the other, and your joint behavior in such cases has largely resulted because you each hold conflicting ideas yourselves.
