This initiates such an episode. You go from that to the neighbors, the environment, Ruburt’s condition, and Prentice.

Now for some time he did not see that look, and you were doing very well, but you slid back just at a time when he was trying to put the advice in my book to use.

Now Ruburt worked against that concentration of yours in producing Seven. Now he is very much in love with you, so it is difficult to get some of this data through. He does not like you criticized. Your own ideas concerning the artist in society being poor, mistreated and at the mercy of others—now this is a core belief of yours that you consider a truth, and the nature of reality.

It severely limits you. You have projected it into contacts with publishers. Now do not say to me that is the way things are. Do you understand?

That is the nature of an invisible belief. If you had been more intimately connected with Ruburt’s classes, the same hassle would have resulted. Now Ruburt until recently has had the same sort of belief concerning his body and its abilities. The artist was not physical—simply put, a thumbnail description.

(About 4 pages of material followed this, but it was too fast to record. I considered it the best part of the session, but now do not have it to read. It is impossible for me to remember at this typing, of course. It was about spontaneity and joy, etc.—obvious things, really, which become self-evident once mentioned—and how Jane’s symptoms represent our joint negative thoughts. My parents were also discussed. The session ended at 11:20.
