She is too sorry for him. She is also projecting the negative picture into the future. She feels beaten by the situation. A circle of reaction has formed about the family therefore, that so far is self-perpetuating. This is not her “fault.” It is simply that the family has become weary, but the circle of reaction must be broken.

(In all the sessions Jane has given, this is but the third time that Seth has referred to past-life connections involving historical figures. In each case the connections were rather tenuous.

In this life, or rather before incarnating in it, the personality then chose to purposely minimize the intellectual area; not, now, to punish himself, but to understand in and through an exaggerated form, the experience of those far less mentally gifted than himself.

He is able to give his emotional abilities far greater freedom. In all of his existences he has been of an extravagant nature, impetuous, choosing extravagantly-opposite experiences. He did not choose to probe lightly or delicately, for example, various areas of experience, but chose instead to intensify each life.

There were connections in past lives that united mother and son, of which they are both unconsciously aware. She has been valiant. At certain tides she rose to peaks of high encouragement that helped him. But she must avoid the mire of negative expectation.

I do not mean to scold her, but in her well-meaning sympathy she can hold down the native joy that he feels, when left to his own standards of achievement.
