First of all, before we get to the meaning or import of the tapes, let me say that Ruburt is learning to handle energy in other fashions. The experience itself, the voice demonstration, is highly therapeutic physically. Energy is received and discharged wholeheartedly, exuberantly and spontaneously through sound. This involves certain inner muscular coordinations and releases.

(9:30.) The chants set up deep emotional responses in listeners and in those involved. The emotional, responses then are used as departure points for other experiences. The music, the chants, are richly endowed with what you might call for now racial memory, striking psychic as well as biological chords, and thereby releasing certain inner mechanisms and memories.

They will be used in different ways. The “language” (in quotes) bridges the gap between languages. It can convey the unique individuality of many different ceremonies, held by different nationalities through the centuries. The language is structured, but in such a way that it is loose enough to be highly flexible and elastic, and only tight enough to retain the sense or feeling of the kind of language you are used to.

The translations when they come must make sense to the Western mind. But they must not be limited by the nature of its stereotypes. The new songs are the first step in this procedure. The ancient songs will follow when the practice of the new ones is complete.
