DELETED SESSION

(It is January 4 as I begin to type this session from notes. As of now we have so far mailed the letter to Eleanor re Rich Bed; phoned the ad about a house in to the Elmira paper; obtained the paint for Jane’s workroom; put up new curtains in her room; begun inquiries about the duplication of the letter for readers who write to Jane; packaged the first six chapters of Seth’s book to mail to Tam at Prentice-Hall tomorrow; begun to check the galleys for Oversoul Seven—all of these being items on the list we made out a couple of days ago. Another checklist will be included at the end of this session.

(At about 9:40 PM, as we sat waiting for the session to start, Jane said she felt a bulky “something” off to her right, toward the bay windows in the living room. She didn’t actually see anything, nor did the effect develop further.)

This is a significant session. I will let you take a break and continue.

(I didn’t know exactly what Jane meant. Before the session she’d made remarks about it being significant. I agreed that it was but my interpretation of that significance wasn’t as positive as Seth’s, I’m afraid. I didn’t ask Jane what her interpretation of this significance was, by the way. But at first glance I thought a good case could be made for not opening the doors to psychic developments to begin with, going by the contents of this session so far.

(It also seemed that both of us had made the decision to confine the psychic work to sessions only, which I thought would at this time automatically shut down a lot of possible developments. I also felt there was a strong possibility the sessions themselves would go by the board unless Jane showed much improvement before too much more time passed. We believe we are committed to delivering Seth’s new book, but after that....

(This evening’s material, session and notes, incidentally, answered somewhat frequent speculations of my own: why I had always stressed caution when speaking to others who asked advice about developing matters psychic.

(“In its own way tonight’s session is as significant as the first session we had,” Jane said. “It’s like you’ve been through a training period you didn’t even know you were going through—and now, in our terms,” she said with surprise, “it’s taken all that time. Like I’ve been scared as hell to move out of the old framework. I didn’t know where the hell I was going...Take the Sumari, and when I hear the voices: what in hell am I supposed to do with those things?”

You also felt that Ruburt needed you, particularly in the beginning, with both of your feet on the ground, so to speak; Ruburt is quite correct. In its way this session is as important as our initial ones.

For now class should be continued. Your social life should and must not be allowed to deteriorate. You both need that contact, but free you see of the demands he has felt from, say, correspondence. Nor need he feel at the beck and call of anyone who wants to come here for a session or otherwise.

(“The whole thing’s unexpected by me,” she said. I wondered why it should be, and also thought that this was a way the sessions would try to protect themselves. But then, there was Seth’s book to be finished.... 11:20.)

He now realizes that growth cannot be held back. Now later, but not in a distant future, your nap periods will be utilized for joint out-of-body work. The further developments latent since our sessions, are now ready to proceed. The feeling of accomplishment and peace will give you a feeling of greater time available within your daily framework. And as soon as the (Xmas) tree is removed, the badminton.

There are ways that Ruburt can be of invaluable assistance. Some incidents will occur in our sessions, and some in your coordinated nap periods, as well as in the dream state; and within a few months if these suggestions are followed.

Now I bid you a fond good evening, after a highly significant session—

—for you must go on in the way I have directed if you want to fulfill those abilities and purposes that you both have. And that is the end of the session.

(12:16. Again Jane’s trance had been very deep. She told me she’d gotten the feeling from Seth that we’d have a significant dream tonight—of the kind he had talked about a long time ago. She had the feeling the session was “a big thing, significant.” I seemed to be more reserved.)
