The sense of fun and joy and spontaneity—all of these things are as important in the dreaming as in the waking state. He felt a responsibility, in his terms, to be psychic. Therefore he carried this attitude into the dream state, and rebelled against the idea of working while he slept. (Pause.) It is no more his duty to be psychic than it is his duty to be human, or creative. It is simply his nature.
