(Once again Jane began the session speaking in the new voice: higher in pitch, clear, formal and somewhat distant. Again, sentences often ended upon an upbeat.

(Jane said that now she is starting to get “little glimmerings before a session,” telling her when it is to begin, with the new voice. When Seth came through regularly she always knew beforehand of his emotional presence, she said, and so had no doubts or questions about beginning a session.

(Jane gave a rather long and intense session last night for her ESP class, speaking with both voices. The session was recorded, and when obtained a copy will be inserted into this record.

(9:42. Jane came out of trance easily in a few moments. She had experienced the pyramid or cone effect again to some degree, but wasn’t sure whether she had done so while delivering the material. She had been aware of the effect during last night’s unscheduled session also.

(The new voice had maintained its characteristics this evening while perhaps showing a little more animation than usual; becoming a little stronger as the session progressed. Jane resumed with the same voice, at a slower pace, at 9:57.)

(10:25. Jane sat quietly for a moment, then jumped and came out of trance. Her voice had been the same throughout, and almost fast at times. She said she knew she was having trouble at the one slow passage, above. She was making an effort to get something through by using words that were correctly suggestible. It was very difficult, even though both sides were doing what they were supposed to.

(Jane said she was getting intuitive flashes that were just feelings, or things that could not be put into words; she couldn’t translate them even to herself.

(She said that sometimes “these personalities” seem to be able to look into her mind and see how she is going to deliver a bit of data; if they don’t approve, then they can change the way they give it to her to speak, so we’ll take it the right way. Jane said she used to distrust this process greatly, but no longer does so. She thinks this may be why she doesn’t completely lose consciousness during sessions—so she can aid the personalities as they make use of her verbal discrimination.

(Jane resumed in the usual higher new voice at 10:36.)

(Jane paused. After a minute, at 10:47, I said good night to each personality, figuring that Seth had been present even if unheard. Jane’s eyes opened briefly. Her expression changed, she smiled, and I knew Seth would speak. He came through in a strong and animated voice.

(10:50. Jane left trance easily. She had been tired this evening but the session had been a good one.)
