As some of your reading material of late suggests, the more you know of the nature of reality the better equipped you are to deal with the point of transition. Here your inner beliefs are your only contact with reality. Believing for example that death is a complete end can result in a quite unnecessary period of unconsciousness.

It is far easier to learn and to make contacts now, for this is training that will be invaluable. With the change in Ruburt’s whole attitude, I hope that I can make many of my points more clearly, and give you quite practical training. (Long pause.) One point however. A continuity that Ruburt overlooks, having to do with his continuing interest in religious matters from the time of childhood, echoed in the poetry and in the science fiction. He was even then leaning toward our direction, by nature, ability and inner desire.
The psychic development was hardly as alien to him as he supposed. The workings of the personality led to the science fiction direction, and could have short circuited him, ending far before the inner goal was even glimpsed. Hence the difficulty after Rebellers. All elements of the personality were not united.
