The beliefs of his intellect will be found in the general nonfiction. The acceptance, the intuitional developments, will always appear initially in the poetry. Therefore any large and overall hedging, any significant difference in commitment between the poetry and the nonfiction, can be taken as a sign that the whole personality is divided to that extent.

This cleavage has been literally a torture to him. It has caused him to hold back from fully developing his abilities; not only his psychic abilities. It has caused him to hold back in the development of his full writing talents, for these specialized creative abilities, the writing techniques, will come into their own now that the personality is more fully behind our work.

The intellect has learned from the intuitive portions of the self. It has not been conquered, it has been freed. The force, the basic vitality of the whole personality, has been gathered together, or rather is just being united for the first time in this existence. (Jane, as Seth, pointed at me for emphasis.) And for the first time in any existence.

(During first break I had mentioned being curious about what Jane’s eyes really see, or are aware of, when they are open during a trance. From scatterings of data Seth had given in the past I thought Jane’s eyes, even though wide open, did not see others present as they were, as physical entities, but perhaps as electromagnetic personalities.

I am aware of you myself as electromagnetic and psychic entities. I see the essence of your personality in all it’s past and present existences, and I must pinpoint you in your time.

Now. It is a subtle thing. I am now closely allied with Ruburt, and yet in another way, a new way, there is a balance so that his personality can be the surface, dominant one. He can operate as himself and my heavy hand is not so in evidence. He is simply more quiet than usual. This takes some control, since it is his mannerisms that are retained in a large manner.

It would of course involve the transposition of an old nervous system pattern upon Ruburt’s, and using this method the transformation when perfected will be quite startling. (Pause. Head still far down.) Initially all of our energy would be used however in this manner, to make the transposition before any of my own personal characteristics could show in other than physical terms.

Now. The nervous system connections have been largely returned to him. We do not strain them, and in this, one of our most familiar methods, I can make my personality plain to you, without any attempt made for any more severe change such as would follow in the method given earlier.

(When break was over, Jane once again spoke in the first-effect voice, where Seth hovered just beneath the surface of her own personality. “I could feel him there,” Jane said later. Once again her voice was light and easy, her eyes open and dark.
