(Smile.) We have managed to do fairly well without anything like his full acceptance. We shall indeed do much better now. This simply means that he has taken several giant steps, necessary ones. But these will make future giant steps easier. There has been a change in our sessions. His more relaxed inner attitude has given us more available energy. Which we hope to use in a variety of constructive ways.

You may now take your break and we shall continue. One point (to me:) You missed me at Ruburt’s classes. You would have enjoyed it.

His classes will show the change. His students perfectly sensed his attitudes, and while he led them with his right hand, he cautioned them to hold back with the other. He offered much, but would only deliver a portion. The classes will expand, and with students who will fit in admirably, for now his position is a stronger one.

Now. It is a subtle thing. I am now closely allied with Ruburt, and yet in another way, a new way, there is a balance so that his personality can be the surface, dominant one. He can operate as himself and my heavy hand is not so in evidence. He is simply more quiet than usual. This takes some control, since it is his mannerisms that are retained in a large manner.

The smile and gestures are his. The trance state nevertheless is a deep one, but in this condition all of my energies can be used for other work, such as the gaining of clairvoyant material, as in the new work episode.

(The following manner of delivery was a new one in the sessions. Jane continued to speak with her head down; the result was that her voice seemed oddly muffled, much deeper, far from as clear as just above. There seemed to be an actual effort involved in her speaking—something quite foreign to the sessions. Her eyes remained closed. I watched her closely, ready to interrupt if the experimental delivery seemed to be taxing. And of course Peggy hadn’t seen this type of delivery before.)

There are many reasons why this state is also an excellent one for various purposes, and each of these states involves us in various methods by which I can make myself known to you. (Pause.

Now. The nervous system connections have been largely returned to him. We do not strain them, and in this, one of our most familiar methods, I can make my personality plain to you, without any attempt made for any more severe change such as would follow in the method given earlier.

(A long pause, perhaps a minute. When Jane spoke again her eyes were wide open, voice very animated.) This is a compromise method, and a good one. You have the best of both worlds. Now these methods, when perfected, will go a long way toward explaining how I see you, and how I can make my reality known to you. I have put Ruburt on a merry-go-round, and so I shall let you take a break, though I am myself in a fine mood, and it is good to see you taking notes so diligently once more.

Now, in this state I can assist you, and no one need know that I am here if you need information from me and a regular session would not be convenient.

I will continue for a moment in this state, to tell you about yet another method, the one that is used in Ruburt’s projections from a session. In this case I keep his physical system going while training him to describe what he has seen in his projections. This present state is challenging to Ruburt, for he can feel the interplay between us in a way not possible in the other states.

(10:06. Again Jane’s trance was a deep one, and it took her a while to fully leave it.

(Tonight then, Jane manifested three different voices while in trance: the regular Seth voice, somewhat strong, very clear and concise, the one we are so used to; next the light and lilting voice with Jane’s own mannerisms overlying Seth who hovers just below; and finally the muffled, masculine old man’s voice, so different from any produced before this.)
