(A note added later: I met Ruth Klebert in Gerould’s drugstore yesterday, October 31, 1986— she looked okay—has had cancer and a heart attack—knew Jane had died—asked about Seth. Lives on Miller Pond now.)

My heartiest wishes to all here present. Now, we will speak for a brief time on some general matters while we make preparations for the Gallagher material.

Now, all of you in this room know but a small portion of your whole inner self. This inner self of yours, however, knows you well and guides your actions whether or not you intellectually realize its presence.

We will at one time or another speak with you each in a more private session. For now I simply greet you. Joseph, give us a moment if you please.

Now, more personally, our friend the Jesuit. There is a large wooden object that he is taken with, like a totem, fatter it seems though, and not so tall as one. He speaks with several male natives and an American man, from Minnesota, who deals in a business that is connected with salt.

He and the cat lover chose one particular way because they are too cagey and shrewd to take another recommended way. Now one place they stay: has water on one side and foliage on the other, with large square openings in the front, and I do not believe here by the large square openings there is any glass. The steps are from the side, three or four. They find this place on their own. Someone has hung clothing on a line though beside the place. They can stand and look out over the ocean and sight two or three other islands, one they have visited. They plan to see three other islands.

Now you may take a break or end the session as you prefer.

Now a rather odd connection with Grumbacher, or painting supplies, for the Gallaghers.

Now the grass is growing here but it is turning brown. There is a brown high grass in this one area and the bottom of the trees is black and there are large berries. This is a particular area, a waste area, that has been somehow ravaged and perhaps, once burned, you see. It is ringed in by trees and the historical and psychic connections here are not good, having to do with sacrifices. Monchuco (Rob’s interpretation) the Monchuco.

Now we are returning here and we shall close this evening’s session. My heartiest wishes to you all.

A woman in the background with a connection with Winchester… Rochester? Rochester or Winchester… Fairly elderly. May have been a grandmother, possibly now dead.

[... 7 paragraphs ...]

I’m jumping now to an uncle of Shirley’s, with a mustache and with an old photo. This means he is now an old man now or is dead. The fashion of his clothes is old. First a black mustache and then it turns white. He wears a uniform of some sort or fancy clothes, a hat that is strange.

[... 5 paragraphs ...]

And another man, younger, light skin, wears light colored trousers, part of uniform? Worn in work? With stripes? At the time he seems to be 34 but he is older now. Two children and one a male. Previous marriage. Shirley’s husband past.

Now. Sandy hair. Connection with someone—Edward. And an A, with a large family and a particular picture of the family, old, three girls with large hair ribbons, two boys, several years older, picture taken on porch steps very early 1900’s. Perhaps in a city B or the name begins with B. And a sister, a career woman before this was general practice.

Now, Ruth: a rather early illness, of years, I believe.
