Our young friend here has many questions. His mind is buzzing with them. He is so impatient. There is one question however that I will indeed answer now, and it has to do with the delight with which he views fire.

The light of fire has a soothing effect upon his nervous system, a relaxing effect. Not only fire is involved here, however. There is a tendency for spontaneous dissociation that has always been characteristic, and this tendency is simply given freedom when he stares into flames.

[... 1 paragraph ...]

Now there is a tendency here emphasized because of youth. This tendency actually involves a lack of focus, or a lack in the direction of focus. Our young friend shifts the focus of his awareness from inner to outer realities very often, and without realizing that he does so.

We are getting something here that is not clear: a small instrument used that seems to be the size of a thimble, but with (pause) something that resembles a slide rule on the top. This was the method of obtaining the data from which the water records came.

[... 2 paragraphs ...]

(Pause. Jane paused often while giving this material.) We will try here… Joseph… The name of the town was either S A C O (spelled), or this formed the main body of the name, you see.

[... 5 paragraphs ...]

Now then. A Saint Cecelia Church here. The name Mathiatus (phonetic) I believe was shortened to another version, perhaps Methus. (Phonetic. Pause.)

Your first name, then, was Grace. (Long pause.) There were five children who lived and two who did not. Here we find you very ambitious.

You may take your break now and we shall continue… Our fire-loving young friend here can watch Ruburt light his match.

There are automatic adjustments that are made, and nervous pathways that have been opened, pathways that become more useful as they are used. For habit enters in here, as in all endeavors.

[... 7 paragraphs ...]

That was a small yes indeed. (Amused, eyes closed, Jane leaned forward.) Now let us see. Ruburt and I engage in a cooperative venture, truly a psychological gestalt, in which our personalities meet, rather in a dimension that is neither here nor there. Together we form a sort of psychological bridge between dimensions, for I cannot completely exist within your three-dimensional system now, and he cannot completely enter the dimension in which I do have my primary existence.

[... 6 paragraphs ...]

Now give us a moment. (Pause.) We will see what we can do with our spiritual firebug here.

[... 6 paragraphs ...]

(“Pete wants to know if he’s sensed your presence since he’s been here.”)

I am afraid we should have to ask Pete. I have indeed been here, as Ruburt well knows. Ruburt however has been concerned, and quite properly, in keeping the atmosphere as uncomplicated as possible. I did not however address you, young man.

[... 28 paragraphs ...]

He was dissociated enough to allow knowledge to come through that he did not realize he possessed. (Pause.) There is a rhythm-making talent here to some extent. Also I believe an unrecognized ability to work with numbers.

[... 3 paragraphs ...]

Give us a moment here. Saricke.
