“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(Earlier in the day I prepared the 7th envelope test for the session tonight. This time I picked a negative I had taken during our vacation in 1964 at York Beach, ME. The subject was the Driftwood Hotel, situated but a stone’s throw from the beach. This place has strong emotional attachments for Jane and me. It will be remembered that it was in the dancing room of the Driftwood that Jane and I saw the personality fragments we had ourselves created, on our vacation in York Beach in 1963. See the 9th session in Volume 1. We had this experience several months before these sessions began. See the sketch of the negative on page 255 of this Volume 4.

(Bill Gallagher voiced the thought that during delivery there is always a change in Jane’s face, but that he couldn’t articulate it. He said he has been aware of this since the first session he and Peggy witnessed, the 158th.

In the sleeping state we see the personality as it is in operation. We see its abilities and its limitations. Our friend, the Jesuit, will do well to read our dream material, for dreams are a reflection of the needs of a personality and of the abilities. The focus of attention and concentration are magnified a thousandfold in the dream state, and dreams form the basis for your physical environment.

The pituitary gland is of great importance here, and the thyroid gland of secondary importance. Negative electrical charges are responsible mainly for the durability of any given dream. The mind, as you know, does not appear within physical reality, although the brain is indeed of physical origin.

As it is these dreams, having an electrical reality, are deposited in coded form, with all other experience, within but independent of the physical cells. Dream experience is as real to the personality as waking experience. Only the ego makes any distinction. Therefore the personality that has survived makes no distinction on its own.

(Bill Gallagher said that in his opinion Jane, when speaking as Jane, doesn’t move her facial muscles the same as Seth does. Seth forms his words more carefully and distinctly, Bill said, and this effort shows.

Because suggestions are formed of the same stuff that forms your physical reality, suggestions can indeed change the framework within which you operate. This is no Pollyanna hogwash. Many of the ways and the means have been given. My suggestions, if followed, will be fair enough proof of the validity of our material.

(Break at 10:28. Jane was dissociated as usual. She said she had no visual data during the material on the test; just the thought of the toothbrush and of herself. Her eyes remained closed until break.

(As usual, some of the test material obviously applied, and other statements seemingly did not. By now however we have learned that material in the latter category is not necessarily distorted; it could merely be another example of the sometimes far-reaching impressions that attach themselves to test objects. Seth has said very little about the reasons for this. So we were now curious to learn what application, if any, such statements as four, a masterpiece, a voice, etc., had to the test object. Simple questions. It is because the man thinks differently that he has the ulcer, for the ulcer is the result of his characteristic method of thought. It is the result of his characteristic manner of viewing reality. This causes him to add to his self-image, in reality, that disability. The ulcer is formed intimately from the electrical reality that composes his thoughts. Do you find that a satisfactory answer?
