“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(The photo is of a winter scene, with brilliant contrasts of light and shadow. I have indicated the colors crudely in my tracing on page 242 . The group of four sit on the edge of a concrete patio at the back of Bill’s house. I did not mention a test to Jane, but she is well aware that they are in the offing now; earlier in the day she casually mentioned tests, without asking specifically whether I had one planned for tonight.

The term mechanism may be a poor one, but I use it now to emphasize the physical aspects of its nature. When the ego is resilient this mechanism works automatically and well. It is the ego in many cases who clogs the works, so to speak.

We will now tell you, Joseph, that your head will be clear for the rest of this evening.

Now my dear Joseph, this material concerning health will indeed tie in very well with our dream material, which is one of the reasons why it is being inserted here.

We shall have our sessions for many years. There is no fear that any of the material will be left dangling in midair. The material will change now and then in the balance of its components, for it too must change and grow. The identity of the material must change and grow if it will endure.

Now aside from these dietary suggestions, I also believe other patterns of behavior could be adopted. The isometric exercises, for now, are excellent and should be followed by both of you. The two Eastern exercises, done occasionally by Ruburt, should be adopted by you both as a matter of routine daily.

Ruburt should drink no more than five cups of coffee daily at the most. If he is not giving up his cigarettes, then as you suggested moderation should be used. The present fifteen a day will do for now, but this should be reduced to ten when it is feasible.

(Break at 9:56. Jane was well dissociated. Although her voice had been rather average this evening, she said now that she felt it to be strong subjectively. Jane told me it is hard to explain, but at times she feels she is more a part of the voice than at other times.

(I was now aware of some improvement in the state of my head, and felt much better. I hoped the improvement would continue. Jane now resumed while sitting down, and with her eyes closed, at 10:02.)

(It was 10:06. Reaching over, I dropped the test envelope in Jane’s lap as she spoke. Her eyes were closed. They did not open now, nor did her delivery falter. Actually she gave no sign that she was aware of the envelope. I chose this method of introducing the envelope into Jane’s awareness to see if it would halt or interfere with the material of the moment, and was pleased to see that it did not. I had taken care to see that Jane had not seen the test envelope during breaks, or before the session.)

(It was 10:11. Jane had been speaking with pauses. Now she paused again, then picked up the test envelope. Her eyes were still closed. As during her previous four tests she held the double envelope lightly in both hands. She did not appear to be nervous.)

(Jane told me that in the past she would have given her own interpretation of the photograph she had in mind along with Seth’s information. On one level she had a distinct impression of her own photograph. But now she allowed Seth to separate the two impressions.

Now. We let all of this material come through purposely, so that you can learn from it.

Now, I knew this was a photograph. Ruburt however, through association, made certain deductions. He picked up from me the fact that children were involved. He picked up the road and the pyramid shapes. This led him to think of his old home, for in the afternoon the shadow of its roof threw a pyramid shadow form upon the road.
