This is one of the main reasons why I have not tended toward the seance atmosphere, why I have avoided blatant superstitious displays... we have some factors that will work for us, and we will have more.

In the past I saw no reason to dominate these sessions with any particular effects. That was not my main concern. I will however at our sessions try to manage a greater variety of effects. The particular voice effect, for example: This is nothing difficult, it proves nothing. What would it prove?

The increase in voice will not produce fatigue. It never does. Also, there is no invasion of Ruburt. The personality with whom I am working is intelligent. For reasons that I will explain much later, it was necessary that I align myself with a personality who is both intelligent and intuitional. I do not want to shove the ego aside. I have no need or wish to shove the existing personality aside. We get along well.

The peoples of the East know more about this, but they have closed their eyes to the human conditions of existence... they live in poverty and filth, and there is no real reason for this. Experiments in expansion can be carried on that I will be glad to discuss with you... they can be for the use of any intelligent personality.

I quail before such a possibility. I can to some extent deal with the skeptic. With the gullible I cannot deal. We will indeed at all times try to be as reasonable as possible. I do become impatient. This is a characteristic of my own. I try not to let it direct my relationships.

That sweetness allows for spontaneity, and explains why many of his cases succeeded. But for entirely different reasons Dr. Rhine also gets too involved, and the end result is the same... we can get effects, but the laboratory atmosphere will not help us.
