“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(In an effort to further clear up Seth’s rather involved interpretation of Jane’s dream of September 7, I made it a point to ask Jane just before the session was due tonight about the statement Seth-Jane had made on page 46, involving Jane’s friend, Marie Tubbs, in childbirth. Marie wrote Jane on October 11 that she has not given birth for two years, and Seth dealt with what looked like a discrepancy between the two sets of facts to a partial degree in the 98th session. See pages 74-75.

(Tubbs, of course, was Marie’s maiden name. Her married name is Marie Sterrett, of Boynton Beach, Florida.

(Jane had a rather unexpected opportunity, also, to verify Seth’s diagnosis of the nodule on her left wrist yesterday afternoon. While on a walk to a neighborhood store she was given a ride by our family doctor. Sam Levine told her the nodule was harmless, the result of an injury, and called it a ganglion. He told her to leave it alone, saying it was protective and would probably disappear by itself. See Seth’s diagnosis on page 77. Needless to say, Jane was pleased that Seth was verified.

(Jane began the session with a smile. Her voice was at a normal pitch, her pacing regular, her speed of dictation normal. Once again she began without her glasses, and her eyes were dark as usual.)

(Break at 9:30. Jane was quite well dissociated, she said. Her delivery had become quite energetic. She said she felt as though she was listening to someone else speak, but could not retain what she heard, nor did she know what was coming next.

(Break at 10:02. Jane was dissociated as usual. Again she put her glasses on during break, only to remove them as soon as break was over. She resumed in the same manner at 10:12.)

There was no distortion but some confusion as far as the childbirth and water bag episode was concerned. As is sometimes the case, there is a misinterpretation, which I will attempt to clear.

Ruburt’s dream itself dealt with vessels. The correct interpretation was that of a vessel, the ship, in which the Tubbs woman toured; the breaking bag, winds unexpected during a day of travel during the cruise.

Part of Ruburt’s dream, you see, did have to do with a ship; and here with a second vessel and the water, you find that information was given on a subconscious level to Ruburt concerning his friend’s journey. If you will reread that session dealing with the main dream you will see the connection. However, there was a deep sense of bewilderment upon Ruburt’s part with his friend, who is a mother, since neither of them as adolescents considered motherhood as a part of their personal futures.

This sounds extremely involved. But while Ruburt did get the correct message, another topmost layer of his subconscious took childish revenge by changing the symbolism of vessel as ship, into vessel as womb, container of life. On this level, which also achieved its purpose, the water image was translated into a bag, or the bag of water that burst.

The Tubbs woman was to be given still another child, when no more were desired, by Ruburt in childish retaliation. Both literal interpretations were true, you see, but Ruburt took the opportunity (unconsciously of course) to use valid information, that of the trip, as a method of getting back for the imagined and unreasonable treachery of her friend.

(End at 11:11. Jane was dissociated as usual. Many months ago Seth had suggested putting the head of our bed to the north, without going into much detail as to reasons. He referred above to a question and answer session because I had mentioned the idea to Jane earlier in the day. We plan to work up a list of questions. The furnace reference concerns Jane’s manual operation today of the usually automatic gas heating plant in the house, after the thermostat developed some as yet undiagnosed trouble. In connection with the bed data, Jane has been mentioning for some time now that she has a vague soreness of the ribs on her left side.)

(October 21, Wednesday: A small incident. In the morning I thought strongly of Venetian blinds, that I would like some on the kitchen windows. I visualized them, although we have none to fit and cannot afford to buy them now. This was a spontaneous, vivid wish on my part.

(Going down cellar at noon to check on the furnace, which had been acting up, I found three Venetian blinds, set out in plain sight where none had been the day before. I am sure of this because I was in the cellar yesterday also, because of the furnace trouble. Our landlord was with me, and told me that I could use the blinds, since someone in the house had obviously decided they no longer wanted to use these. So I took them.

(October 26, Monday: I saw a large scrapbook filled with pasted-in newspaper articles, then an envelope in the book. Half in and out of the envelope was an old snapshot of Rob and me.

(Also: I also had a very brief impression of standing up and off to the right of myself, only I was in the body of an older woman that I didn’t recognize. It was not my body surely, but must larger, with a bony frame, dark hair, a more square face, and glasses.

(On October 21, last Wednesday during the session, a remark I made led Jane to recall that on the night before she had had a dream involving a washing machine that leaked and flooded; she told me that she was not sure whether it was the automatic washer in the cellar of the apartment house or not. I wrote it down as a matter of routine.

(Last night, the washing machine in the cellar sprang a leak, a pipe rupturing, and flooded the cellar. Our water was cold this morning. Inspecting the cellar after breakfast, Jane discovered a foot of water there, and of course immediately called the landlord.)
