(It will be remembered that in the 87th session of September 14, 1964, Seth began an interpretation of Jane’s dream of September 7. The ramifications from this dream are still spreading. Seth again dealt with this dream in the 93rd session, of September 30. In it he said that although he was not sure, he thought Jane’s schoolgirl friend, Marie Tubbs, now living in Florida, may have been in childbirth at the time of Jane’s dream, with a possibility that the water bag had broken during birth. The unifying symbol of the dream had been a tub, and water.

(So, since there was some kind of discrepancy here between what Seth at least considered a possibility, and the fact that Marie had not been giving birth, we naturally wondered what was correct, and hoped the session tonight would deal with it.
(Earlier today, feeling somewhat tense, Jane had visited a chiropractor for treatment. While talking with him she mentioned a hard lump that had appeared recently on the inside of her left wrist. It bothered her but little; the doctor stated that it could be an arthritic nodule; seeing that this upset her greatly, he reassured her by saying that it was more likely to be the result of an injury. Not remembering any injurious incidents, Jane came home quite upset.
(She was still upset as session time approached, and had been unable to take her nap before the session. She wrote out a list of half a dozen questions concerning the nodule, and left it lying on the table as session time came. She began on time, again without her glasses, and at a normal speed with some pauses. Her voice was normal, her pacing regular.)

The precise interpretation had to do with information in the dream pertaining to the cruise, the tub, here again, being interpreted in terms of a ship. This was incidental knowledge picked up telepathically when the woman in question described her journey, rather than from the trip itself.
The woman told the events of the trip to friends, then dreamed that night of the friends, and in this dream the woman retold these events. It was from this dream that Ruburt picked up the information connecting her friend with water.

In your time, yes. Water was of course all around.

(Break at 9:29. Jane was dissociated as usual, but more toward the middle and end of the delivery than in the beginning. Seth had not yet mentioned the nodule on her wrist, and we agreed that he was probably waiting until she attained a deeper state before he dealt with personal material of this sort.
[... 4 paragraphs ...]
The hand was not injured, that is not knocked as by bunking, but was irritated due to a change of wrist motion occurring when he began to use a second typewriter, which he had not used for many years. The keys are spaced differently. The automatic wrist motion that he regularly uses in his touch typing was knocked askew, the pattern broken, and he used an erratic pressure that induced strain. This caused the irritation and the subsequent nodule.

Nevertheless, because the patient is in a condition where he is most susceptible to suggestions, a great responsibility lies upon the shoulders of those who would treat illness. The chiropractor’s suggestion that the irritation was an arthritic one was made positively; that is, without thinking he stated “Oh yes, that is not normal at all, it is an arthritic nodule.” Later, realizing that the suggestion had been a poor one, and moreover one of which he was not certain, he amended the statement, adding that such a formation could also be the result of injury or simple irritation to the joint.
Despite Ruburt’s understanding, his intellectual understanding of his fear of arthritis, he was thrown into an understandable and regrettable emotional state, with which he grappled with at least some success. But you see here what under other circumstances could have been the final straw, so to speak, the word of authority that would say “Your fears are justified.” In such an instance and under certain conditions such an individual would have his deepest dreads, therefore, fastened upon him.

(Break at 10:12. Jane was dissociated as usual, and also quite relieved at Seth’s explanation. She had begun using her old typewriter for first drafts of her writings since leaving the gallery a few weeks ago, with the idea that since we do all the Seth material work on this machine, which is the best of the three we own, some wear and tear might be saved on it.
(Jane said she was “really out” while Seth gave the material on her wrist. She resumed in the same quiet manner at 10:21.)

(End at 10:58. Jane was dissociated as usual. My writing hand was also tired. After the session was over, I realized that I had neglected to ask Seth to specifically clear up Jane’s use of the phrase concerning her friend Marie as being involved in childbirth. I will make a point to inquire about this in the next session.)
