What psychologists speak of as association is definitely an important psychological characteristic. What psychologists do not understand, however, is that in deep levels of subconscious activity associations may spring from the inner self’s latent knowledge and experience of past lives.

These various stages of the subconscious represent what was once the conscious ego of an individual, left now almost like living archeological heritage, from which the present individual may draw both knowledge, psychic continuity and balance.

What was once the subconscious of these individuals once more united with the inner ego, which always represents the true individual, and these then advanced according to their own abilities and desires.

It is also possible that these secondary personalities, emerging, give access to buried abilities and benign constructive abilities which had been buried beneath heavier fears that weighed them down. In any case this level represents the last division of what we may call the present personal subconscious, and still only accounts for a small dimension of the inner self, being composed of only the most easily accessible portions.

Since this period was to some degree at least free of camouflage, from it communication can be received dealing with the entity’s knowledge of itself, and of uncamouflaged reality. From this undifferentiated gap of experience between camouflage existences, valuable information may be received dealing with the reality which exists behind, and independent of, matter.

From this focus position communication may be set up between personality essences no longer in the physical field, and those still in it, provided that those still in it are able to remove focus from the ego to this particular level. It is from this focus point then that communication between what is termed the living and the dead may take place.

The necessary focus point may be achieved through trance, hypnosis or self-hypnosis, or through certain other disciplines. It may happen spontaneously, as when a severe emotional reaction is set off; through external circumstances, and what Ruburt has read in the past along these lines is partially correct.

Communications that give valid information concerning the reality beneath the camouflage world must be attained through one of the separating layers between lives.

At the bottom so to speak, will be found a layer of the subconscious dealing with racial heritage, concerning the dim first materialization of man; and beneath this a heritage dealing with a comprehension of reality as concerned in physical matter before the physical evolution of man, following backward to that first inner self within its mental enclosure, that was adept enough to translate and transform its psychic energy to form the first, most minute physical materialization, from which all other physical constructions then flowed.

These sessions come from, or are received through, what we may call, since we are using terms of succession, from the third undifferentiated level, beneath the limitations of Ruburt’s personal subconsciousness.

The Frank Watts material represented communication on the first level of undifferentiated fields. Both Ruburt and Frank Watts were experimenting. According to an individual’s abilities and development, he can change his focus so that it encompasses realities further and further from the concern of the ego, and in this Ruburt has come far. The phrase “give unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s” is a good one. You see I am better acquainted with biblical phrases than either of you.

In other words, Ruburt’s ego should be and is properly concerned with contact, development and progress in the physical field. His ego is a critical one. It is his inner ego which is intuitional and gives his critical ego the material from which his books are written; and I expect naturally that his ego, and yours, will critically appraise what we have done here, what we will do, and beyond doubt any suggestions to you that I might make. But also his abilities should be used to better advantage in our sessions, and this I know will only come about when his ego is assured, through examination of our material, of its validity.

Dear Joseph, when I spoke of you both being in excellent overall condition, I did not mean that I overlooked your yearly hay fever, into which we shall go in so far as causes and alleviation of symptoms are concerned, and shortly. I meant that both of your overall vital psychic reserves were being well utilized, and that your general health was, believe me, excellent. If you will remember your previous severe back trouble, and Ruburt’s which has entirely vanished, you should be able to see what I meant.
