SESSION 138

[... 1 paragraph ...]

(On September 26, 1964, Jane and I sent sessions 39-91 to the publisher, Frederick Fell, NY, NY. On February 16, 1965 we asked for the return of the material. On March 5, 1965, F. Fell wrote that the sessions were being carefully read.

(See pages 102, 107, 114, 125 and 136 for some predictions of sales concerning Jane’s writings. Page 102 is a psy-time experiment of Jane’s; the rest are statements made during sessions. They range from October 30, 1964 to November 11, 1964. The sessions are 102, 103, 104 and 106. The letter of February 16 to F. Fell was referred to by Seth in the 135th session.

(Once again we held the session in our back bedroom, and found it very peaceful and quiet behind closed doors. Jane had no idea of the material for the session. She spoke while sitting down and with her eyes closed. Her voice was quiet and clear throughout the session. Her rate of delivery was again quite slow; some of her pauses were long. She began speaking at 9:01.)

(For the material on psychic gestalts, see the 59th, 62nd, 81st, 96th and 128th sessions, among many others.)

[... 2 paragraphs ...]

(See the 137th session.)

[... 1 paragraph ...]

Once more, action is not a force outside that acts upon matter. Action is, instead, the inside vitality of the inner universe. It is the dilemma between inner vitality’s desire and impetus to completely materialize itself, and its inability to completely do so. This was also discussed briefly in sessions dealing with the first appearance of matter within the physical field.

(See the 60th session, among others, along with the aforementioned material on psychic gestalts, etc. See also the 137th session.)

[... 1 paragraph ...]

I spoke of this second dilemma. The first dilemma is that which exists when inner vitality struggles to completely materialize, though it cannot completely materialize. The reasons for its inability to completely materialize have been given in a previous session, and I will discuss the matter again at a later date.

(See the 133rd session among others.)

[... 1 paragraph ...]

(Break at 9:27. Jane was well dissociated. She said she believes she is farther “out” when the sessions are very slow, as tonight. The pauses could last for an hour as far as she is concerned or knows.

[... 1 paragraph ...]

(This appreciation of concepts is, according to Seth, the using of some of the inner senses, and he has mentioned this many times. He has called the 4th inner sense the conceptual sense, and began to develop upon this about a year ago, March 23, 1964, in the 37th session.

[... 9 paragraphs ...]

I will add a word here, only to remind you once more to read those sessions regarding inner vitality and the initial appearance of physical matter, for that discussion will help you with this one.

[... 5 paragraphs ...]

(Groping for words, Jane explained that she feels as though she is “wresting” material [not implying a struggle however] from Seth or some other source with a deep part of her consciousness that is below her ego consciousness. She feels that just recently she has in some manner begun to experience concepts in a more involved, different dimension of consciousness. It is a state of perception she hadn’t attained before, perhaps until as recently as the last session and this one.

(Indeed, Jane said, although she now thinks she was aware of this grasping of concepts in the last session, she did not mention it because her conscious awareness of it was so fleeting. Even now, she cannot say how long during the session itself she is involved in this manner. It is a very rich experience. Jane also believes the quiet back room we now use for the sessions is very helpful.

[... 8 paragraphs ...]

You may take a break, and I will continue, or you may end the session as you prefer.

[... 1 paragraph ...]

(Break at 10:31. Jane was dissociated. She feels she has attained a visceral knowledge of concepts, meaning that she feels them within. She also realized she was aware of what she dictated to me during the session, although not the word-for-word order of the material. She called this a psychological experience. She obtained the information one way, and passed it on to me another way.

(Jane also now realized that she had at her command the full contents of the 60th session, although again not in word-for-word order. This is the first time she has been aware of this experience. She did not feel tired, nor did she look it to me.

[... 1 paragraph ...]

In line with the statement that action necessarily changes that which it acts upon (in parentheses: which is basically itself), then it follows that the action involved in these sessions changes the nature of the sessions.

[... 1 paragraph ...]

(Seth-Jane had some material on consciousness and the direction of focus in the 94th session, among others.)

[... 4 paragraphs ...]

I mentioned in our last session that this material would be the basis for many future sessions, and so I will certainly make no attempt to cover the material this evening.

It is true, then, that another dimension has been added to our sessions, and I hope to instruct Ruburt along these lines of more direct perception as our sessions continue. I have told you that such developments could be expected. These are natural unfoldings, and such developments will occur according to their own nature, and in their own time. I expect that this latest one may involve of itself still another.

My fondest regards to you both. Our next session will continue along these lines. Good evening.

[... 2 paragraphs ...]

(She felt Seth could have continued, but did not push her. Jane feels now that these recent developments mean she has given some kind of consent to go along with the sessions into a deeper trance state, to step back farther from her ego. A step at a time, very cautiously.

(Jane thinks that tonight her ego didn’t experience anything, although some part of her did. She thinks her ego gave at least tacit consent. And yet her ego assimilated the experience. She feels that this evening’s session was good because of her experience with past sessions. She felt light at times during the session. At times she was not conscious of being in her body; yet neither was she conscious of being anyplace else.

(Jane said an interaction takes place between us that makes the sessions possible. It happens within her, she is the one doing the experiencing, yet I am also necessary. She has a feeling of effortlessness on her part, and is not at all afraid.)
