(Jane had no idea of the material for the session as the time for it approached. She began dictation in a voice a little stronger than usual, at a rather slow rate with quite a few pauses. Her eyes were dark as usual, and she took her glasses off as the session began. Her pacing was quite slow.)

(Break at 9:28. Jane was dissociated as usual. At break time she then realized that she hadn’t smoked at all during the first delivery. As a rule Jane smokes steadily during sessions; even I hadn’t noticed she was going without cigarettes.

(By now I was also aware of a mild feeling of enlargement in the fingers of my right hand. The third finger was the most involved. Neither Jane or I have had many experiences of this kind in recent sessions. See the 47th and 55th sessions [in Volume 2} for more pronounced effects of this kind, including measurements.

(Break at 10:03. Jane was quite well dissociated. Again, she had not smoked since last break. I still maintained the feeling of enlargement in the fingers of my right hand.

(An interesting little experience now came to light. Jane’s delivery had become very slow; as slow as the 110th session, which was as slow as any I recall. When I mentioned this Jane was quite surprised. It developed that while dictating she felt she was speaking rapidly. In actuality, her delivery had been so slow that at times she paced from one end of our living room to the other before giving voice to the next word. Thus it is seen that we had much different appreciations of the same amount of camouflage time. It might be added that during the 110th session, Jane was aware that she was speaking at a slow rate.

(End at 10:35. Jane was again well dissociated. And again, she did not smoke at all during the delivery. She still felt that she had been speaking rapidly. The tempo of her delivery had picked up since last break, but to no great degree.

(I was still aware of the feeling of enlargement in my right hand. I was careful not to confuse this with any cramping effect from holding a pen for so long. However, the feeling now became more pronounced, so that when I made a fist my fingers felt thicker, against a thicker palm, giving a feeling of restricted movement. Usually such effects begin to wane as soon as a session ends, but in this instance the sensation was stronger than ever five minutes later. It lasted for some fifteen minutes or so, during which time it gradually declined.

(December 16, Wednesday, 8:15 PM: Another quite interesting experience. After achieving the desired state, I saw a few vague faces, male and female. I then began to tell myself I would visit Ed Robbins, in his house in New Paltz, NY. After a few minutes of this I abruptly became aware that my lower legs felt as though they were off the edge of the bed, suspended in space. The feeling was startling and quite definite. I was aware of it in the left leg from the knee down, and the right ankle and foot. I could not feel the pressure of the limbs upon the bed.

(While this sensation attained some duration, I began to experience my feeling of existing upon two levels again. I haven’t had this one lately, however. This was also definite and prolonged. First, my middle body felt depressed [or nonexistent] upon the bed. I then became aware that my left arm and hand felt itself to be some inches higher than my right arm and hand. Yet beneath both limbs I felt the presence of the bed. It appeared that the point of transition between the two levels existed somewhere within, or beneath, my body, but I was not aware of it consciously. While I knew the bed lay beneath either arm, note that I was not aware of the bed beneath my lower legs. Good duration for both effects.)
