It is true that physical stimuli may signal a dream, but the stimuli, the physical stimuli, does not actually signal the beginning of the dream; but it calls your attention to the dream, which has been in progress, as if you walked into a darkened theatre and began to see portions of a production which had been going on.

You would know better than to think that your awareness of the movie signified that the movie began only when you appeared. You construct dreams automatically, so to speak, with one level of your being in the main, whether you wake or sleep, and whether you are aware of the dreams or not. This is an inner symbol manipulation that is carried out as automatically as you breathe or walk, a by-product of your own physical and psychic structure, of your chemical and electromagnetic constitution.

Both the dream universe and the universe of negative matter then, are by-products of the physical universe, in that they were formed as inward energy attempted to form itself in a physical way.

That parallel self would not be recognized by you, as psychologically identical, and is indeed quite independent, and a by-product.
