There has always been development, but not along any single line. You are only aware of development along certain lines because you focus upon some, and do not focus upon others. There is a give and take between the dream world and the physical world, and each makes or causes effects in the other.

The barrier, if it may be so called, is not so much in the nature of the two dimensions themselves, but in your own limitations, since presently you are focused mainly in one of these. Until a certain area of psychic development is attained, awareness, or rather direct awareness, is only possible in one dimension at a time, though experience in other dimensions in varying degrees may be received separately.

As awareness develops, so do the abilities develop that enable the whole self to handle ever-varying data, and therefore to manipulate it and function within the perspective of its meaning. There are—

The whole self as you know has its existence in uncamouflaged energy, and is therefore capable of the assimilation of knowledge in so far as it can, if it chooses, be basically unaffiliated to any one camouflage dimension or perspective. In actual practice this takes a supreme development, but even for general purposes the inner self retains a freedom from camouflage perspectives, and is aware in varying degrees of other perspectives, and of its existence outside of them.

Your help, Joseph, has been most beneficial to him, and it is difficult naturally for him to manage this sort of data; but if he could not manage it he would not have received it, since we are developing an integration here. And I have protected him from a vulnerability to experiences that would be, or that would present, a danger to the overall balance of the personality.

I am developing, or helping him develop, his abilities with all caution. Your abilities are indeed developing and even now growing, in a different manner, beneath the surface, but they will show themselves, and much to your benefit.
