In your terms only, I could be referred to — and I have told Ruburt this — as a sixth self of his in his future; but this is only to get the idea across, for he will not become what I am. That is impossible. I am myself.

Physical matter is not permanent. You only perceive it as continuous; your perceptive mechanisms are not equipped to detect the pulsations.
