I am at the hub of your group and draw you together. Our friend here (Jane) had some experience last evening so I will not keep him overlong. He has been impatient with you and I have been impatient with him for being impatient with you. The teachers squabble over their methods and the cats will play.

I have, to some extent, your histories before me and I see your giant steps and your tiny steps and I see where you trip. I am behind you in the dark and I give you a push when it is needed—not a hard push—a nudge. Ruburt would indeed push you and shove you.

Now, your candle episode was legitimate. It was not some breeze playfully passing by. Now I am a big wind playfully passing by. The candle was moved. The flame was moved, if my friend Ruburt will forgive me, by a friendly spirit who was within call. I can’t understand why he did not know the message was received.

You (this seemed directed to Rachel) have cultivated other gardens. There are joys that can lighten your burden. It is not your ego that you fight, although you have a model of an ego. You fight a memory that lingers on the outskirts of your mind. A transgression already forgiven—a storm already passed—a dark cloud already punctured. Now, you are naturally as free as air. The rest is a facade to hide the memory. Now, consciously you will not understand what I am telling you but unconsciously you will. The transgression has already been paid for. The penance is finished. When you realize that you are free you will be able to enjoy your freedom.

(Sally softly cleared her throat.) A polite cough, indeed. Now were I a kind and well-known beloved uncle who has passed over, you could perchance see me, but for now you must be content with the little of me that I am able to portray through Ruburt’s personality. There should be occasions when Ruburt’s features will change to some considerable extent when I speak to you, but you will have to be content for now with that part of me you can sense. You will perceive more of me as time goes by. I will not come playing hopscotch, jumping through the window like Peter Pan. It is not my style. But I tell you that you will perceive me more clearly than you do now.

I will even sometimes wander. Be quite assured that I will keep my eyes, figuratively speaking, upon you although I am not Big Brother spying upon your activities. But I know when you wander from your purpose and when you leap spontaneously toward it and when in the depths of your being you realize the depths of your abilities and deny them.

I am coming back! Now I will not keep you. When you want to try psy-time, think of me. Think of the small sphere upon which you have placed yourself and that you form it, the world and everything that you know, from within—and that the truths will come from within and not from without. Imagine the sun as being within you as indeed it is, and feel it shine through the seemingly boundless boundaries of your being.
