I know you all very well by now. (To Rose) The situation in your case will work out to your advantage. I do not mean, although like Ruburt I am indeed somewhat to sound superior [sic], you must however realize that you are so closely focused within the reality that you know that it is difficult for you to look elsewhere. Yet the answers are within you and you can bring them out.

I see that I am greeted with long faces, long and fierce faces, and it must be a solemn occasion indeed. I should have come prepared indeed with a suitable sermon. Your friend (Anne H.) is happier by far now, and stronger. You only see her predicament from a limited standpoint .

Now, I speak jokingly to you, telling you that I am the origin of the material, and therefore you must listen to it and study it. The fact remains that I am also a channel through which this information comes to you. And as yet you have little idea of its significance and meaning, not only to you personally. It makes little difference that I transmit it and that Ruburt receives it. The material itself, however, is the important issue here. I receive it and interpret it from our sources, as I have told my friends. Ruburt has always been cautious here, for when I tell him of the significance of the material, then he wonders about the aspect of his own personality. But I tell you and I tell you frankly that the personality by which I show myself to you is but a small aspect of my whole personality. And that personality is not cold. You simply do not understand it, therefore I come to you in terms that you can understand, and these characteristics of mine that seem so cozy are to some extent devious. They are my characteristics as I am, but also as I was. For I am no longer what I was.

What the material tells you about the nature of your own reality is the closest you can come now to an approximation of the truth. No one, not even I, can hand you proof on a golden platter. You must understand what it is. Our beloved monster here (the cat) intuitively knows what is involved, and you know intuitively, but we want you to understand consciously.

Now, let you all for a moment remain quiet as I divest myself of those characteristics that you find so human and understanding, and remember that inner portions of yourselves also have existences that are as strange. Only I am aware of mine and you are not aware of yours.

(Seth:) Nor does it mean that I am not real, you see. For both of us exist simultaneously, and other portions of your own identities exist simultaneously with those that you know. I will now let you retire to a benign and well-deserved evening rest.
