(Class discussed whether Seth had been here before.)

Now, I have not been so social here before, and if you are not careful I shall see that you return to your dead bonfire. Not that you have not been there in your dreams, and there will be other times in classes when we will be there, and you will decide to leave the group and take the journey that will take you there. And then you will feel triumph. Now this wine is more to my liking.

[... 4 paragraphs ...]

For how do I know as I sit here that you are not the products of my imagination? I am indeed an imaginative gentleman, and have been for centuries. And how do I know that I do not simply want to teach and so imagine a roomful of pupils?

Soon, you see, you will all be able to read the Seth material. You all have good minds. You are not used to using them. You set up barriers and gates and limitations, and the material demands your high intellectual focus. I want you to use your intuitions, but I also want you to use your intellects. Some of you still have to learn to use them and how to give them freedom. I spoon-fed you. And I added a bit of sugar here and there. But if you continue here in classes, more and more you will have to give. You will have to give your high intellectual purpose and learn to use your minds as you never used them before. I am a tricky old character.

Now, our friends (Rachel’s neighbors) are not used to me. They will not automatically think that Ruburt is out of his head tonight. And if they hear my voice they will simply think that our friend is simply talking in his sleep. So you see I feel I have some freedom. Of course, we may not be invited here again.

[... 5 paragraphs ...]

I have indeed been here before, but then I have been in all the residences of our students. To show you that I have utmost concern for your neighbors I will keep my voice low. In any case, I will give you all a break, and if ever you crash into pieces I will pick you up. I may not be able to put them together again but I will pick them up. Now relax. You have nothing to fear but me. Awaken yourselves of humor—it is lost in the bulrushes (after a pun from Florence).

(Here followed a discussion of Jane’s masculine actions and gruff voice when Seth comes through.)

[... 1 paragraph ...]

([Rachel:] “I mean as masculine. There is no gender to him. Now where do I go from here?”)

[... 4 paragraphs ...]

Our friend here, our Lady from Florence, shines simply because she uses 20% more of her intellect. But in contrast to what you could use, this is nothing. And you (Florence) must not compare yourself to others, but compare yourself to your own potential. Now, the others in this room use perhaps 20% of their intuitional abilities and you have been using perhaps 10%. So you have a balance to make up on that score. These dimensions and these realities you can understand. You can experience them for yourself to some degree if you but try.

[... 6 paragraphs ...]

I wish you all good evening. Our friend over here (Sally), however, was quite correct. I am now momentarily in that circle, and you know it well. And if you do not fight me, as is your privilege, then you can look across the circle and see my face, for I lift my head.
