That is frightening, but it goes to show you that even I have things to learn... That the shock of birth is far greater than the shock of death. For when you are born again, then you must completely readjust and learn to operate in a strange and alien environment. When you die, there are no such strong adjustments. Circumstances vary, but if you are lucky—and I hope you will be lucky—then your intellectual faculties will continue to operate. Attending this class they certainly should. And so there is instead triumph, for you say, “I am dead, and still I am I” You will dance a merry dance!
But when you are born again into a tiny and helpless organism and when your intellect may still be operating strongly, then there is a shock, for you cannot do what you want to do. You take it for granted that you can express yourself, and you cannot. That is a shock. Some individuals will retain strong memories of their past lives, and others will not. It is easier, you see, if you do not remember.

Now (to Theodore), you will have a session when the time is ripe. I am demanding more of you because you are working. You must, you see, develop in your own way and I do not want to color developments. I am not unaware of your activities, nor of yours (to Vera), but it is tempting for me to take the easy way out. It is, indeed.

When (to Maureen) Itruly believe that you exist, then I will expect you to believe that I exist. Until then, keep your own opinion. I find it enjoyable and somewhat amusing, but I always respect the workings of honest skepticism and intellectual critical analysis. It is good and healthy.

In the intellectual development of the idea I shall, of course, decide that you exist. Though to do so I must follow you in your pursuits through the days. For how do I know that you exist if I do not see you? Otherwise, you take it for granted, you see, that your physical bodies are quite obvious. They may be to you but to me they are highly hallucinary.
You think that the bodies that you have are permanent, but it is highly difficult for me to see the specific bodies that you now occupy, since I see you in all your reincarnational involvements and some of them have been highly involved indeed!

You (Daniel) also will survive. Unfortunately you will have to work and use your mind. You like to use your mind. However, do not use it as a plaything but as a tool—a fine one.
[... 1 paragraph ...]
Soon, you see, you will all be able to read the Seth material. You all have good minds. You are not used to using them. You set up barriers and gates and limitations, and the material demands your high intellectual focus. I want you to use your intuitions, but I also want you to use your intellects. Some of you still have to learn to use them and how to give them freedom. I spoon-fed you. And I added a bit of sugar here and there. But if you continue here in classes, more and more you will have to give. You will have to give your high intellectual purpose and learn to use your minds as you never used them before. I am a tricky old character.
[... 1 paragraph ...]
I am glad that you find me lovable. But I will trick you into using your minds. You must use all of your abilities. You will need them. And if you do well, you see, you can solve problems now. And if you are good you can skip a class, which means skip a reincarnation. The more problems you solve now, the fewer you will have to solve later. That does not mean that you will not have new challenges in other dimensions, for so you will. Think of the challenges that I have, for I must awaken you, and lead you onward and shake you up.

I have indeed been here before, but then I have been in all the residences of our students. To show you that I have utmost concern for your neighbors I will keep my voice low. In any case, I will give you all a break, and if ever you crash into pieces I will pick you up. I may not be able to put them together again but I will pick them up. Now relax. You have nothing to fear but me. Awaken yourselves of humor—it is lost in the bulrushes (after a pun from Florence).

... is not sugar coated. But in our sessions in class I have spoken—if you will forgive me on a simple level. Leading you, I hope, sweetly and gently up the path that I want you to follow, and broadening your ideas so that you will be able to read the regular Seth material and follow it.

You must also use your intuitions. The intuitions know first, but there is no reason why your intellects cannot follow. None of you in this room use 50% of your intellect and there is no reason why you cannot use it. None of you use 50% of your intuitional abilities, and there is no reason why you cannot use the abilities.
Our friend here, our Lady from Florence, shines simply because she uses 20% more of her intellect. But in contrast to what you could use, this is nothing. And you (Florence) must not compare yourself to others, but compare yourself to your own potential. Now, the others in this room use perhaps 20% of their intuitional abilities and you have been using perhaps 10%. So you have a balance to make up on that score. These dimensions and these realities you can understand. You can experience them for yourself to some degree if you but try.
Now these two (Sue and Daniel’s)—I’m getting to them at a fairly young age in this life. This one (Sue) has abilities from past lives to deal with and to use—and a greater responsibility to use them. This one (Daniel) has the idea that he can skim on through. This is no fun life. It is a work life for you and it is a time for you to produce and develop, and to use your abilities on your own behalf and for others. There is every reason in the world why using your abilities in such a manner should be fun. It should be a time of high adventure, but not a time of laziness—and not a time of skimming through.
You must remember when I speak to you and see you, that I do not see you at the ages that you are. In this life some of you are older and some of you are young, but as entities it may be the other way around. Some of you are very young entities and some of you are old. I would like to say that I am a junior entity—a young sprite. However, this is not the case. And I am pleased that it is not.
You wonder what I see when I look at you. I have an impression of the physical bodies which you now inhabit. But I also see, in your terms, your future and your past and the probabilities of your development, and the abilities that you have and must use.

I bid you all good evening, but I will visit some of you this evening whether or not you will remember.
