Now, if you have learned anything in here, you must realize that when you tread a superficial web, you fall under. The inner strengths that are available to you, you are not using. Social discourse lately has been your profundity. You can indeed be more profound than that. This evening in class, you were not able to use your inner abilities. Now it is not often that I speak severely to you. But if I did not speak severely to you, then who would? You have seen, and you continue to see what can be done—and you have seen others come to class with no experience and little knowledge. You have seen our dweller in the hall here (Theodore) use his abilities—and he does not need to look for wonders because he is experiencing reality.

You close the door to your own strength when you look for it in another (to Brad). If I solved your problems for you, there would be no need for you to use your own inner resources. There would be no need for you to look inward and recognize your own abilities. And it would indeed be a betrayal of you on my part to treat you in such a manner. You have had easy solutions offered you in the past and they were not solutions, they were threats. I tell you that you have within yourself the ability to solve your problems. You have within yourself the ability to stand up and make your way. You also have the responsibility to discover who and what you are. The answers to your problems lie within yourself and you can discover them—and in discovering them, you use your strength. To rely upon others will only encourage weakness. Therefore, I will not allow you, you see, to use me as a crutch. I will throw your crutches away—and give you a good hard push and make you stand up and face your problems alone. And that is the only way I can help you. And that is the only way you can ever be helped and you know it, and you know it well. And I mean it kindly.

Now, if I did not know your potentials, then I would not bother you. If all of you did not have abilities that you were not using, I would leave you alone. For to needle you would be cruel and I am not cruel. But I needle you in a righteous cause, and each of you knows it well. The search upon which you have all embarked can only be begun from the center of your own reality. This is what you have to work with. And you have more to work with than you realize. Demand more of yourself- not less. Your (to Rose) information was quite legitimate (this referred to a letter Rose received from England).

When (to Florence) there is a mathematical problem in which you are interested, you try to solve it. You do not solve it by standing in front of it with your arms crossed and closing your eyes and saying, “Surely the solution must be fearful.” Now again, if our Lady from Florence did not have the ability to look inward, I would not try to force her to do so. But you do have the ability.

Now I would tell you, take one tippy-toe out of your physical time (to Florence)—only one tippytoe, and you will be surprised at the results. If you take the physical time, if you only take 15 minutes a day and make the effort to do so, this will automatically lead on your part to an initiation in the inner self. For the very fact of taking the time will represent a commitment which thus far you have not been willing to make. You had better open that door yourself—or someday I will huff, and I will puff, and I will blow the door down—and then there will be a mighty panic! And what have we here! And all it takes from you is the smallest whisper. You could at least speak through the keyhole. I will tell you, you will not find the answers you are seeking in any other way. There is no other way to find them. And again, you know this way.

Now, to prove to you that I am a good and hearty fellow and that I do not always wear a long disastrous face with a chin upon the floor, I will leave you and let you partake of your social discourse. And if you can be merry after this, then all the more power to you. And if you had more of a feeling of joy, you would look inward more easily and if you approached it as a child again, you would find some freedom.

Now I have said what I came here to say this evening. And you all know that there is fondness behind my severity. And you all know I would not huff and puff and blow your door in unless I gave proper warning—and I am giving proper warning! Now, there is joy in all this—and there is spontaneity—and you do not have to think in terms of walking into the inner self in a sack of ashes and crying repentance. If I had gold stars, I would paste one on his (Theodore’s) forehead—but then he would be the one who would have to go to the bank and explain the strange star and not I.

I am not tired out—my friend Ruburt is not tired out. But I am sorry that you are tired out. I would not tire you out for the world—it does not befit a good host.

And if you would work, and if you would look inward, and if you would explore the levels of your own reality and the levels of your own consciousness, then you would know what this state is—and you would remember it—and you would always have its reality as a guide.

Now our Dean has not experienced this yet. Our friend Ruburt has—and several of you have the ability to do so. And it would make your ordinary everyday intellect seem like an idiot child indeed—for you have no idea of the ability of your intellect as it really operates. Now I speak to you not idly—and these are not mere promises thrown about. These are realities that you can experience. These are a portion of your own as well as mine.
