“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

Energy was almost instantly transmitted across the continent from one specific individual to another. When you are dealing with that kind of energy, and particularly when you believe in it, space does not matter. Emotional connections are set up and form their own set of coordinates. (Pause.) That beam of energy is as strong and real as a beam of steel, though it moves faster than a beam of light.

Here I would like to give a very simple example, evocative of what I mean. The other day Ruburt received a telephone call from a woman in California who was in difficulty. Ruburt promised to send [healing] energy. Hanging up, he closed his eyes and imagined energy being sent out from a universal source through his own body, and directed toward the person in need. When he did so, Ruburt mentally saw a long “heavy” beam extending straight to the west from a point between his eyes. It reached without impediment. He felt that this extension was composed of energy, and it seemed so strong that a person could walk upon it without difficulty. Subjectively he felt that this beam of energy reached its destination. And so it did.⁶

A few days after the episode Seth describes in this session had taken place, Jane had another experience with such a beam of energy. This time she lay on her side facing north after we’d retired, for she wanted to send help to a very ill person in a small town in Canada. She felt the transmission go out from her forehead in a straight line toward its destination. She was physically uncomfortable as she lay on her left side, however, so after a few moments she turned over. The movement shut off the beam. After she’d settled down on her right side, she felt it go out again — but from the back of her head now, and still traveling truly north to its Canadian goal.

Jane is often aware of her “beam of energy,” or variations of it, when she’s reaching out to others. There’s at least an evocative analogy here with the behavior of neutrinos, which are fundamental subatomic “particles.” Generated by the nuclear reactions in the cores of stars, neutrinos travel at the speed of light. They have practically no mass, no electric charge, and hardly ever interact with matter. Not only can they pass through the earth, they can traverse the universe itself without losing much of their energy.

Some conditions, some roads and countries, would require different beams to meet different circumstances, as even in automobiles you use high beams or low beams according to necessity or utility; and in some cases the high beams would not only be ineffective but dangerous, and so low beams are used.

The saying, on the beam, applies. [...]

[...] It is like a strong beam, and he must learn how to use it, and how to change its direction. [...]

[...] It is not like a steady beam of light, for instance.

[...] But the creation is continuous, like a beam, or rather an endless series of beams, at first weak as they are far off, then stronger, then weak again as they pass away.

[...] Imagine if you will now a band of men, some in cars with the high beams of the headlights gleaming, so that some generalized conditions can be seen; and some with low beams showing only the road that the automobiles directly pass. [...]

It turns beams of attention off and on. [...]

[...] The room was very impressive, with its beamed ceiling. [...]

If you will imagine the rather odd picture of a solid beam extending from the body of the man on the corner to the tree, then this may help you to think of sight as a path. [...] Consider this as another solid beam or path.

The comical series of events involving Floyd, one of his sons, and another helper had started this noon: “Hell, Rob, it’s a coon!” a surprised Floyd called down to me from the roof of the house, after the beam from his flashlight had illuminated the black mask across the animal’s face and made its eyes shine as it crouched at the base of the fireplace chimney. [...]

While this may sound quite sacrilegious scientifically, it is possible to understand the electron’s nature and greater reality by using certain focuses of consciousness: by probing the electron, for example, with a “laser” [beam] of consciousness finely focused and attuned — and more will be said about this later in the book. [...]

[...] These serve as beams searching the universe, but the conditions of manifestation also exist. [...]

(At my suggestion Jane has started a notebook in which to record experiences with her “beam of energy,” a concept I personally find most interesting, and with out-of-body trips, and other such adventures. [...]

[...] Rooms ordinarily alien or unknown to me seemed to open up, although in a very concentrated focus, as say from the beam of a flashlight. [...]

There will be in the future journey through light beams that will be much more efficient. [...]
