During class, with the lights on, Rose Cafford suddenly said that she saw my aura. She has been able to see auras for years on some occasions, so has Rachel Clayton, I think. Vera and Theodore were then able to see it; and Sally, everyone but Florence, I believe. Without telling them what I was trying to do, I concentrated on making my aura brighter, saying to myself, fire bright. Almost immediately Rose, Sally and Rachel said that the aura was suddenly extremely bright; did this several times. (I had never seen an aura.) It also changed color. They said that, alone, it was white and quite wide and easily noticeable.
Then we sat around coffee table with lights on, and lighted candle down to the end of the table. Aloud I asked for the candlelight to change, for the flame to rise. Instead, I felt a strange feeling of extension above my head and before I could comment on it, Rose and someone else —Sally?—called out that my aura had changed color and was now purple. Several more times this happened, aura changes taking place while I subjectively experienced this extension—the same feeling I have in the new sessions with Rob. Definitely not imagination, anyhow; quite definite; I’d say, physical, though the “physical” feeling is where no physical part of me is. No suggestions were given as to aura here, though finally I did tell them when I had the feeling and ask if there was an aura change. This the most vivid experience to me of the night.
I was in the rocker; all lights on. Then various others sat in the rocker. I personally then was able to see auras on Rachel, Theodore and Sally. Position of onlookers seemed to make a difference. It made no difference where persons were sitting though, when we were looking at their auras. (They didn’t have to be in rocker, for example.)
We all had the feeling something was going for us.... It’s hard to see how suggestion operated. In the aura bit, I have given myself the suggestion I’d see my own on several occasions with no effect. Florence actively fights against any suggestions, and I purposely gave none. Obviously we were trying for something—which is in itself suggestion, but on other times we’ve tried for example to get the table to move and it wouldn’t budge. If this was the case, how come the auras were more visible in light than darkness, since you are more suggestible in the dark. The other manifestations also happened in light, though we did try darkness with no effects showing.
More than that, however, as far as you are both personally concerned, you have a built-in sense of distance that gives the house actually an extra dimension of privacy that is not within the grounds themselves, yet adds to that aura. [...]
[...] Those houses have not sold because of the very characteristics you found attractive—their relative aloofness, and their aura of apartness.
[...] The little house on Cobbles East also has its own aura of privacy that no garage on the other side can disturb.
(Seth paused, so I asked him a second question from M.H.: “Is experiencing inner vibrational touch akin to reading an aura?”*)
[...] Part of your accomplishment lies in our sessions and your own considerable work with the notes, and with the invisible aura contained in those notes, for there in a different way you are painting a portrait—a portrait of two lives from a highly individualistic standpoint, extremely unique—and that is the kind of experience that would be ripped out of your life’s fabric, were you the hypothetical idealized version with whom you sometimes relate—a version highly romanticized, let me add. ([Joel:] “Was I right then about the aura changing because of the intensity of Jane’s own mental focus?”)
