It will be remembered that Jane’s second envelope test was held on the night of August 23, in the 180th session, and that the test photo featured Jane on the waterfront at York Beach. [...]

The man and woman referred to in the test experiment of August two- three, were the Instreams. [...]

(It will be interesting to learn from Dr. Instream, who was driving the car when he and his wife arrived at York Beach on August 23 for their overnight stay.)

(During break I asked Jane to discuss why I picked the particular photograph of York Beach to use in the test for August 23. [...]

(Tonight before the session we reread the deleted session for August 1, in which Seth had given some very optimistic forecasts for improvements on Jane’s part. [...]

I was delighted when Jane began to show physical improvements almost at once during those early August days, and so was she. It’s not contradictory to note that during August and September, following his regular schedule of twice-weekly sessions, Seth methodically presented some very exciting concepts. [...]

In the meantime, early in August Jane had laid Seven Three aside once more and returned to the book of poetry she’d had in progress for a year.⁶ And on August 15 she happily announced that she’d come up with the complete title she had been searching for all that time: If We Live Again: Or, Public Magic and Private Love. [...]

I’ll skip ahead a bit here by noting that on August 15 four nuclear technicians made the second entry into the containment building—again, to acquire more information for future entries. [...]

The head of the Subsidiary Rights department at Prentice-Hall had informed Jane that four copies of the film option contract were in the mail.⁴ By the first of August we’d had our attorney check, sign, and notarize the contracts, Jane and I had signed them, and I’d returned them to our publisher. [...] Dr. Instream had stayed overnight in York Beach on Monday, August 23; Lorraine had visited the town on Saturday afternoon, August 28.

(It will be remembered that our 2nd envelope test, held during the 180th session, was held on August 23, and that it featured a photograph of Jane at York Beach. Now checking our records, we saw that an unscheduled session was held on August 28. [...]

“Sunday, August 24, 1980.

AUGUST 6, 1979 9:40 PM MONDAY

[...] At the same time, she had a lot of material in mind from Seth—on the glass experience; a dream I’d had on August 1, in which I’d found her lying on the floor in the bathroom doorway; and a fairly strong earthquake that had struck south of San Francisco, California, this afternoon. [...]
