If in your terms he were sane, he could not use his creative abilities, for they are always connected with life’s meaning; and sane, the paranoid is convinced that life is meaningless. [...]

[...] Yet here again the creative abilities are allowed some expression. [...]

Now these are your abilities as members of what you now call, simply, the human race. They are inherent abilities that belong to consciousness no matter what form it adopts. [...]

[...] That there is far more that is not seen by the mirror, and it is not seen by other eyes and you can choose to bank upon those abilities that you know are inherently your own. [...]

Ruburt’s clairvoyant abilities need farther development, and I will help here, for instance. [...]

Ruburt’s abilities began to expand again when he realized he would regain his health in the late spring. [...]

Your development as an artist however, given your particular abilities and personality, was not possible in your early years. [...]

You were not spontaneous enough as a personality to allow fulfillment of your abilities at an earlier age. [...]

[...] Here we find abilities shown, ignored, and misused through a succession of lives; a rather classic example of the ‘progress’ followed by many psychically endowed, but in poor control of their personalities and abilities.

[...] For this reason, the abilities have not come to fruition. [...] In the past the psychic abilities were used for the wrong purposes; therefore, they did not fully develop and the personality was at a standstill.

“In two other lives, there was instead the development of inner abilities to the exclusion of others, a closing down of windows and barring of doors. [...] Yet through all of this, the inner abilities did grow. [...]

(Before the unscheduled 230th session of last Sunday, Bill Gallagher had surprised Jane by telling her he thought she possessed healing ability. Seth discussed this ability in the 185th session, and he referred to it briefly in a few others.)

He is obviously drawing upon knowledge that is beyond his own conscious abilities. [...]

[...] He will find that this ability will grow.

(Jane now said she puts herself “in the hands of whoever or whatever possesses these abilities” during such experiments, and tries to stay out of the way of what will happen.

As her psychic abilities began to rapidly grow, following her initiation of the Seth material late in 1963, Jane couldn’t help but become more and more concerned about consciously enlarging her “scope of identity.” [...] Very understandable, then, that Jane, both for herself and for Seth, would write so eloquently about the disparity between her psychic abilities and “the currently scientifically-oriented blend of rationalism,” as Seth describes that quality earlier in this Session Six for The Magical Approach.

[...] It is formed partially by abilities inherent within all personalities — psychic abilities — and it is composed of energy. [...]

[...] Such relationships were of great interest to us as we sought to understand the blossoming of Jane’s psychic abilities. [...]

(Sessions 12 through 15 are briefly quoted in Note 4 for the 680th session, in Volume 1; Seth remarked upon the impossibility of closed systems, his own senses [including something of their limits], his ability to visit other “planes” of reality, and his “incipient” man’s form.

One reason for the success of our communications is the peculiar abilities in you both and the interaction between them, and the use that you allow me to make of them. [...]

[...] The creative abilities are always released when the will and the imagination are together, in whatever area.

Your willingness to help Ruburt walk, your encouragement—these are all important, but the most important issue is the unity, in practical terms, of imagination and will, and the generation of creative ability in health terms, that can be sparked.

[...] He must show that for all of his youth he is world-weary, not easily taken in, that he is objective—and only then can he allow his creative abilities to flow. [...]

(To Pete.) Over here we find a connection with Iraq, a strong psychic ability and you hide behind words often, to avoid experience. [...]

[...] Not that in a past life you overused psychic abilities but that in this one you are intrigued by them but frightened also, and afraid that in using them you would be lead too far away from the intellect. [...]

[...] She wondered if my loss of communicative abilities was also related to my father’s senility and his own physical retreat. [...]

[...] These abilities are then studied thoroughly by the entire personality, both the benefits and the detrimental aspects of the intellect weighed carefully. Through experience in another life this same kind of individual might specialize in emotional development, and purposely underplay intellectual abilities.

[...] Specific creative abilities might be specialized in the same manner. [...]

[...] In so doing during the reincarnational cycle, you are focusing your main abilities in physical life, developing human qualities and characteristics, opening new dimensions of activity. [...]

(9:40.) In this one, as in no other reality, intellectual and intuitive abilities finally work so well together that there is little distinction between them. [...]

I am still in the process of trying to reassure him, of course, but in a fashion we are indeed dealing with a kind of biological logic that will stand up in its own light—that will produce its own evidence as you learn to accept the rightness of your bodies (pause), and their abilities, for they are natural healing mechanisms. The small panics themselves, for example, are meant to lead to psychological questioning and so forth in a give-and-take mental and therapeutic exchange of activity—an activity bound to release and activate the creative abilities also. Your own creative, abilities are instantly mobilized in that direction. [...]

[...] The small instance of Ruburt’s doing the dishes this morning is a case in point – and that emerged as the result of those abilities mentioned in our last session.

You expect yourselves to be different people than you are—not appreciating at all the abilities and characteristics that you do possess, but forever weighing them against other abilities and characteristics that you have told yourselves you should possess.

[...] A true idealization involves loving thoughts of the development and fulfillment of your abilities to the best possible condition.

It does not involve criticizing creative abilities of your own by comparing them to others that you think you should possess.

At this level many abilities may be used, and the present moment can be experienced in many different fashions, using as a basis the physical data with which you are already familiar. [...] You can, according to your abilities, manipulate matter from the inside consciously, with lucidity and alertness.

[...] Jane has already discovered that she has very good abilities using A-1 as a “side platform.” [...]

[...] As a rule, it is still physically oriented, in that the abilities are usually directed toward the inner perception and manipulation of matter or physical environment. [...]

It just happens that Ruburt’s ability happens to lie along the easiest route as far as these communications are concerned. That is, both of you have pursued separate abilities because of the bent of your particular personalities. [...]

[...] I do go along with your individual talents, making use of them when I can, and helping you to develop abilities that you have let lie unused and latent.

[...] However this will take much practice on her part, as she is as far from proficiency along that line as you are far from her use of the ability to transform inner data into audio patterns.

Now on the one hand their abilities and their power is based upon the inner ability and power of all of these, in your terms, alive in that particular era. [...]

[...] However, it also serves to blunt your own abilities and to cause inner behavior that, again, is not suited to your capacities for it causes you to pretend not to understand that which you do well understand and therefore to block from your ego information that is otherwise quite plain. [...]

[...] A personality that you have set up for yourself, but the fact that you are coming to classes and using the intuitional abilities opens up a slight window in that artificial personality that you have adapted, for in your mind you think—  and if you will forgive me, I will speak for you, but you may make a rebuttal. [...] You are quite able to follow any discussion in this room and it is about time that you realized it and used those intellectual abilities that are your own, and it is about time that you stopped telling yourself that you do not understand that which you well understand. [...]

[...] You can tell an artist’s abilities from his paintings, as you observe them, can you not?

The world as you know it is mankind’s creation, and his abilities and limitations are all in evidence there. [...]

[...] He tries to view his own work through some idealized image of a psyche who is as gifted as he is as a writer, and also highly gifted in meeting the public, putting on performances, acting as a healer, as a prophet, and as an expert therapist all at once, and in so doing his own characteristics and natural abilities and inclinations become lost along the way. [...] You are changing their lives, or allowing them to do so, of course, helping them release their own abilities—accomplishments that should be considered in line, again, with your own backgrounds, and not compared with hypothetical ones. [...]
